Seaplane with four people on board plummets into the ocean near popular Australian tourist island

Shortly after the plane took off, a seaplane crashed near a popular tourist island.
The plane hit the water on Rottnest Island near Thompson Bay, Western Australia, around 4pm on Tuesday.
Emergency services, including water police and two RAC Rescue helicopters, are at the scene.
There were said to be six people on board the plane Western Australian reports.
Three people, including two women in their 40s, were seriously injured.
“Immediate assistance was provided by water police and a number of civilian vessels in an attempt to assist in the rescue,” WA Police Chief Constable Col Blanch said.
“This is an ongoing situation and we are working to determine the details.”
Rottnest Island, also known as Wadjemup, is located 20 kilometers off the coast of Perth.
It is a popular holiday destination in the summer months and attracts thousands of visitors.
