Two people have been injured after a skydiving plane with 17 passengers on board crashed near an airport in southwestern Victoria.

Emergency services were called to Barwon Heads Airport in Connewarre, Geelong, about 8am on Friday.

A Victoria Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that two passengers had suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

It is understood the plane had fled from the end of the runway.

All passengers have been removed from the aircraft.

Photos of the wreckage show that the nose of the plane has been ripped off.

The plane had crashed on the Leopold side of Lake Connewarre while emergency services remained on scene.
