Pink makes dramatic announcement after touching down in Australia for her Summer Carnival tour

Pink has dramatically announced she is quitting Twitter, just days before her Australian tour kicks off.

The American singer, 44, recently landed in Sydney with her family ahead of the Australian leg of her Summer Carnival tour, which kicks off on Friday, February 9.

After arriving Down Under, Pink took to X – formerly known as Twitter – on Tuesday night to suddenly announce she was leaving the site.

Pink, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore, shared a scathing post criticizing the social media platform and confirming she would no longer be using her account.

She wrote, β€œHave you ever been at a party with a bunch of salty old people who never realized their dreams?

‘Where the drink dried up centuries ago, there is no music – no one dances – would you have had more fun at home with your blind cat? Nowadays that’s Twitter, or whatever it’s called now. Byeeeeeee.”

The star also added in a now-deleted post: ‘This account will self-destruct in two minutes. Do it!!!!’

Pink has amassed a whopping 30 million followers on the social media site, and as of Wednesday morning her account is still active, although she has not shared any further posts.

Fans were quick to share their devastation that she would no longer be using X, with one writing: ‘But this is the only account you follow me on! Don’t break my aching, broken heart.’

Pink landed in Australia last week with her husband Carey Hart and their two children Willow, 12, and son Jameson, seven, ahead of her highly anticipated tour.

Since their arrival, the family have been discovering the sights along Bondi Beach, with Pink sharing fun snaps of their antics on Instagram.

She shared a series of photos of herself posing with her two children on the beach as the clan enjoyed some down time before her busy tour schedule kicked off.

‘Bondi Beach, it’s been too long!!!!!!!!’ she wrote on Monday. ‘Bills was lovely too. Soooooooo happy to be back on this side of the world!

‘Thank you, beautiful Australia, for being our home away from home. Children are enthusiastic.’

Pink is preparing for a few busy weeks as her tour will hit stadiums in seven cities in Australia.

Pink was born and raised in the United States but has become an ‘honorary Australian’ after breaking records for concert and album sales Down Under.

According to a report in New idea Pink hopes to start a ‘new chapter’ in Australia with her family last year and is considering setting up a ‘base’ Down Under.

Pink has long considered Australia a second home and said she was “exploring” possible citizenship in February 2023.

β€œAustralia will be such a special time. Setting up their long-awaited dream base Down Under, where they can escape the winter months, will be just what the doctor ordered,” said an insider.

“Last year I was thinking about applying for citizenship, I’m not even kidding,” she said on 60 Minutes.

Pink added that she told her husband Carey that they had to move and that she “couldn’t wait” to tour Australia again.

β€œI was like, if we’re going somewhere, Carey, that’s where we’re going. So I was kind of looking for it,” she added.
