To get more allies in Picmin 4you have to collect Onions of different colors, with which you can immediately make more Pikmin. While you get the three basic Pikmin Onion colors early on, many of the special Onions won’t be available until you progress through the game.
The Onions we list below are not to be confused with Flarlic, a type of onion that increases the maximum number of Pikmin you can have at one time (up to 100). While collecting Flarlic counts for the total number of onions per area, they will not give you a new type of Pikmin.
Glow Pikmin are only available through night explorations and do not have an Onion.
With the exception of the purple and white onions, all colored onions are found on the surface, not in caves.
Below we list which cards contain which onions and which caves you can get more special Pikmin from.
Pikmin 4 Location of red Pikmin and onion
The Red onion is the default, so you start with this one.
Red Pikmin are fire resistant and also strong, making them great fighters.
Pikmin 4 Yellow location of Pikmin and onion
There are two Yellow Onions: One in Sun-drenched terrace and one more in it Blooming Arcadia.
Yellow Pikmin are immune to electricity and can be thrown very high, making them good for reaching high treasure or loot.
Pikmin 4 Location of blue Pikmin and onion
There are two Blue onions: One in Sun-drenched terrace and one more in it Serene shores.
Blue Pikmin are waterproof and can run across the pond bottoms with you.

Pikmin 4 Location of icepikmin and onion
The Ice onion is in Hero hideoutthe fourth area you unlock.
Ice pikmin float in the water and can freeze enemies, paralyzing them for a long time.

Pikmin 4 Rock Pikmin and Onion location
The Rock onion is in Giant Hearththe fifth card you unlock.
Rock Pikmin are strong and can break glass.

Pikmin 4 Location of pink Pikmin and onion
The Pink onion is in Native shrubberythe sixth and final area you unlock.
Pink Pikmin can fly, allowing them to lift loot and carry it across paths to take shortcuts back to the ship.

- Dream home, ultimate test track (Giant’s Hearth)
- The mud pit (originally scrub)

Pikmin 4 White Pikmin and onion location
The White onion is only accessible if you complete the story-based portion of Hero’s Hideaway. You need to complete a separate game mode (Olimar’s Shipwrecked Tale), as well as five pretty tough Dandori challenges that unlock after you complete Olimar’s bit.
White Pikmin are poisonous and deal damage to enemies when eaten. They are also poison resistant, allowing them to take out enemies swarming in toxic gas without dying.

Pikmin 4 Location of purple Pikmin and onion
The Purple onion is only accessible if you complete the story-based portion of Hero’s Hideaway (just like the White Onion). You must complete Olimar’s Shipwrecked Tale, as well as ten difficult Dandori challenges that unlock after you complete Olimar’s story.
Purple Pikmin are heavy and strong and one Purple Pikmin has the power of 10 Pikmin, making it by far the most useful Pikmin in the game.
