They eventually caught the pig after struggling during a standoff that lasted about 30 minutes.

“Earlier this afternoon, Deptford officers were dispatched to the area of ​​Tanyard Road and Brenner Drive for a report of a loose pig,” a police statement said.

'By using de-escalation techniques and the latest technology, officers were ultimately able to apprehend the suspect.

“The suspect was identified as Albert Einswine, a four-year-old pig from the New Sharon section of Deptford Township. Mr. Einswine was released on his own recognizance.”

Detective Sgt. Bob Jones told it WPVI: 'The video doesn't show everything. We had to chase the pig for a quarter of a mile.

'They're faster than they look. It came pretty far for what it was. I don't know where he would go.'

He joked, “Police chasing a pig is never funny.

'He didn't listen. He didn't listen to our orders at all.

“Everything we learned in the academy went right out the window. Once we got him on the phone, he calmed down a bit. The scene became clear.”

The police officers reunited Albert Einswine with his owner later that day.
