British Transport Police today released a mugshot of a ‘truly depraved person’ attacking a woman as she slept on the Piccadilly line.
Ryan Johnston, 37, unmasked himself and placed the woman’s hand on his genitals before raping her in front of fellow passengers as she slept on the subway.
Inner London Crown Court heard that Johnston assaulted the young woman, who had been out with friends, at the end of the Piccadilly line during the two-stop journey between Hounslow West and Heathrow Terminal 5 on February 23, 2020.
Earlier that same day, Johnston, who was described as a ‘serious danger to women’, had exposed himself outside a North London home and had been hanging out in tube stations.
The ‘repulsive’ assailant has now been convicted of rape and assault and will be sentenced on September 29.

Johnston carried out the sickening attack in front of a horrified passenger, who was traveling with his young child.
He spotted his victim on February 23, 2020 near the end of the Piccadilly line between Heathrow Terminal Five and Hounslow West.
Johnston claimed he actually knew the woman and had met her at a rave which she dismissed as “bullshit.”
She said she had never been to his address, never dated him, and never given him her phone number.
Johnston, who had no permanent address, denied but was convicted of one charge of decency, two counts of assault, one count of rape and one count of attempted rape.
The jury failed to reach a verdict on one charge of trespass with intent to commit a sex offense.
Judge Nigel Peters placed the pervert in custody at HMP Brixton ahead of his sentence on September 29, saying: ‘He drops his trousers, his penis goes to the victim asleep or not, it doesn’t matter. He was spotted by another passenger.
“Three hours before, he dropped his pants in North London.”
The court heard that Johnston has committed previous offenses related to exposure.
“It is clear that the rape has taken his behavior to another level than mere disclosure,” the judge said.
Sentence stay Judge Peters said: “There must be a report that looks at dangerousness.”

Inspector Paul Attwell of BTP’s Major, Serious and Organized Crime Unit said: ‘I’ve been a police officer for almost 20 years and this is by far one of the most disturbing cases I’ve ever investigated.
“Johnston is a truly depraved person who represents a very real and very serious danger to women.
It is frankly inconceivable that anyone could choose to subject a young woman to such a sustained and horrific assault while she was sleeping on an underground train, and the fact that Johnston did so so brutally in front of of a member of the public and his young child speaks of his complete lack of shame or remorse that persisted throughout his trial.
“The profound impact his abhorrent offense has had on the victim cannot be underestimated, so I hope she can take some comfort in the fact that justice has been served today and that Johnston will now spend a significant portion of his life behind bars. Spending time.’
