The Cessna C550 business jet burst into flames as it crashed and video showed the charred and smoking fuselage.

The pilot notified air traffic control that he would perform a “missed approach” typically used when a pilot cannot clearly see the runway, the National Transportation Safety Board said Saturday.

“Preliminary information indicates that the plane crashed near French Valley Airport at about 4:15 a.m. on second approach,” NTSB said.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department stated that ‘dagents have found a plane completely engulfed.’

“Six occupants of the plane were located and pronounced dead at the scene,” officials said.

It took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the thicket that arose after the plane crashed, officials said.

On July 4, a plane crashed at the same airport shortly after takeoff. In that incident, one person was killed and three people were injured.

Footage showed the Cessna 172 jet flying upside down after hitting a building near French Valley Airport. Federal agencies continue to investigate that wreck.

“There were four occupants on the plane, three were transported by ground ambulance (one with minor, one with moderate, and one with serious injuries) and one victim was killed at the scene,” the Riverside County Fire Department said at the time.
