A knife attacker has been pictured swimming in the sea in a bid to escape after a horrific stabbing of a British couple at a Moroccan resort.
The couple and a second woman from Belgium are said to have suffered injuries to their legs and back in the seaside resort of Agadir before being rushed to Hassan II Hospital on Thursday afternoon.
The attacker can be seen among jet skis and boats with his head hovering above the water as he tried to thwart his arrest by swimming away before being caught and taken into custody.
British witness Carl Denne, 30, had gone to the beach to take pictures while on holiday with his family when he heard 'shocking' screams from further down the beach.
He told MailOnline: 'I went to take pictures and everything was beautiful, a sunny day, everyone was happy, and then I started hearing shouting.
“It's a different kind of shouting when it's like that. You know immediately that something is wrong.'

Mr Denne explained that he initially thought someone had been trampled by a camel until he walked onto the beach and asked a family what had happened.
'They said 'no, a man just dropped his clothes', I saw the clothes myself and 'he cut up a few people with a machete'.
The family said that's when the attacker ran into the water in an attempt to escape.
'I had my camera with a big lens on it and I just started taking pictures […] from there,” Mr. Denne said.
“I think there's a shock, like, oh my God, that just happened.”
Spanish newspaper La Razon reported that police are now investigating whether the incident is terrorism-related.

The 33-year-old suspect was reportedly jailed three years ago for drug trafficking.
The horror incident took place around noon on Thursday on the promenade in Agadir, an international seaside resort on Morocco's southern Atlantic coast, known for its golf courses and wide crescent-shaped beach.
The boulevard is lined with cafes, restaurants and bars.
Well-placed sources told the Moroccan press last night that the motive behind the knife attack was still under investigation and that the suspect remains in police custody.
Two of the victims have been released after treatment, but the third victim, whose nationality has not been disclosed, remains in hospital.
