A father killed his wife and three of his four sons before turning the gun on himself, police said.
Jonathon Candy, 42, is believed to have killed his wife, 39-year-old Lindsay Candy, and his sons, 18-year-old Dylan, 14-year-old Ethan and 12-year-old Lucas.
Officers found the five dead Monday morning after a fourth son, who was 10, called police to report the shooting, said Sgt. Gary Knight. Knight said Candy then turned the gun on herself.
‘It remains a mystery why Mr Candy murdered his wife and three of his children. We don’t know why the fourth child was spared or what a motive for the killings is, Knight said.
The 10-year-old was placed in the custody of family members. Police had no previous contact with the family and had not previously been called to their home, he said.
Knight emphasized during his initial media briefings that the family members did not die from “a carbon monoxide situation or anything like that.” This concerns five people who died.

Authorities said the victims included two minors and one recent high school graduate. They were found in this home in a small community on the outskirts of Oklahoma City
Two of the children, Ethan and Lucas, were students in the Mustang Public School system. Dylan Candy graduated from a local high school in 2023.
“We are shocked and heartbroken; This tragedy simply defies comprehension,” Superintendent Charles Bradley wrote in a statement to parents.
‘No one expected it, it was very shocking. You know, like I said, they were a great family,” said neighbor Brian Graham KFOR.
‘They were good friends of ours. They came down all the time and we kind of had hangouts together. We’re really going to miss them. “We really wish this hadn’t happened,” he added.
According to his LinkedIn page, Jonathon worked as a video engineer for a company called Cox Media.
“There are no words to express how heartbroken I am to hear that this unthinkable scene is the beloved Candy family,” a family friend wrote on Facebook.
‘So pointless. The few times I met them they seemed like a typical American family,” one commenter wrote.
The family lived in a subdivision called Czech Hall Estates in Yukon, Oklahoma, where homes ranged from $211,000 to $365,000.
“This wasn’t a gas leak or a fentanyl type situation, this is five people who died,” a local officer said.
