Jessie Jane Lilburn, 7, was killed Saturday in Taylor, Michigan, with authorities saying her unidentified 13-year-old sister stabbed her more than a dozen times while their parents were out of the house.
“This has been the hardest part of my entire life,” their father, Jason Lilburn, said told WXYZ. “You could never imagine in your worst nightmares that something like this would happen.”
He said the girls had had arguments in the past, but he and their mother had never thought much about it.
“We thought it was just normal sibling fights,” Jason said.
‘Everyone fights with their little brothers and sisters, it was normal. It never resulted in any violence, any physical altercation other than a push or shove, but this was completely unexpected.”
Police say the girls’ parents left them home alone around 11:15 a.m. before an argument broke out between the sisters.
“It stemmed from a note that was left in the bathroom and the note was about flushing the toilet,” Detective Taylor said. said Zachary Digiacomo.
The teen then allegedly stabbed her younger sister and then frantically called her father before calling 911.
But the girl “was very calm and just showed no emotion” when authorities arrived, Digiacomo revealed.

A memorial has now been placed in the family’s front yard with flowers, a football, cuddly toys and the little girl’s purple bicycle.
“Honestly, I get emotional every time I see this,” Jason told WXYZ. “It really hits me that she is no longer with us and that there is so much love for her.”
He said he wants people to remember Jessie Jane for who she was and not for her tragic end.
“She loved being on the boat, swimming and catching frogs and snakes, whatever she could find, playing with her friends, hanging out with family and just smiling all the time,” the mourner said father.
“Every night she would give us a 20-minute hug to delay bedtime, but she gave the best hugs,” he said, “and that was the most challenging part of going to bed at night without her, her little arms. to go. around us.’
A private funeral for the young girl will take place on Saturday, while her family is asking people to make donations to the Crazy Sailor Bicycle Foundation, which was established in her memory.
The girls’ father, Jason Lilburn, said it was difficult for him and the girls’ mother to accept this
Meanwhile, her sister will be held as a juvenile as she faces charges of first-degree murder, first-degree murder and first-degree child abuse for the killing of Jessie Jane, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said.
“Given her young age, the state would have seven years to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate her until her mandatory release at age 21,” she said. ‘Hopefully she wouldn’t pose a danger to others.’
“While this is a difficult decision, it is the right decision given the facts in this case,” the prosecutor added.
