Sara House, 22, was remembered by her heartbroken family as having a ‘clear spirit’ after she lost her life on February 11 in an accident that left her boyfriend Camryn Herriage, 23, fighting for her life.

As the 23-year-old shows signs of recovery, tributes are pouring in for House, who was remembered in a GoFundMe for her ‘bright mind and infectious laugh.’

“Sara was known for her compassionate nature and her relentless desire to make everyone around her happy,” her loved ones said last month.

“Her kindness and caring attitude touched the lives of many and left a lasting impression on all who knew her.”

The two were struck on February 11 by an “extremely intoxicated” woman, later identified as 27-year-old Carmen Guerrero, who bystanders claimed fled the scene on foot before being arrested 11 days later.

House, 23, worked as an executive sales associate at Ralph Lauren after graduating from Texas Tech, having studied business, management and marketing and also competing in bikini competitions.

Herriage and House were riding in a car with three other friends when they were reportedly hit by Guerrero while waiting at a red light.

At the scene, witnesses claimed they saw the driver who caused the crash flee the driver’s side of the Ford truck and run away “dressed in a little black dress and white club shoes,” according to an arrest affidavit.

Witnesses described the woman appearing “extremely intoxicated” and was identified as Guerrero after detectives found her wallet in the abandoned truck.

Guerrero was taken into custody 11 days after the crash and is now facing multiple charges, including manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She is being held in the Dallas County Jail.

In the latest update from Herriage’s family, they said she is “showing remarkable progress.”

“This continued improvement is encouraging for everyone involved, and we are filled with hope and gratitude for these positive signs,” Herriage’s family said in a statement. Facebook update on Wednesday.

In a positive update on Herriage’s recovery shared Wednesday, Herriage’s family said she had “another fantastic night” and was showing strong signs as she was “able to breathe on her own again.”

‘The medical team is strategically managing the use of her ventilator, allowing her to breathe on her own intermittently. While this will occasionally cause a yellow alert on the machine, it is a normal part of the process,” the update said.

“Excitingly, Camryn achieved a major milestone: she tracked with both eyes last night and again this morning, something she hadn’t been able to do, especially on her left side.”

They said her nurses are “excited” about the progress of her recovery, and that her “continued improvement is encouraging for everyone involved, and we are filled with hope and gratitude for these positive signs.”

In an earlier update, her family said she will undergo a skull replacement in about two months.

Tributes have poured in for House’s senseless loss as her friend and flatmate struggles with her recovery, while her family shared her ‘devastating’ loss in a fundraiser to pay for her funeral and medical bills.

While Herriage continues to fight for her life in the ICU, her older sister Casie Campanello has not left her side for weeks.

‘Literally: a careless act. It put us in a situation that changed our entire lives,” she said. “We’re very helpless and just staying strong for her, but it’s very hard to watch.”

She added: ‘When she came out of her first operation, the surgeon told us he had told us he had never seen anyone come to hospital with her injury. So she has a purpose.”
