PICTURE EXCLUSIVE: Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw take $250m yacht to the Italian Riviera

Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw have brought the Hollywood legend’s $250 million yacht to the Italian Riviera.

In exclusive photos obtained by MailOnline, the film director, 76, beamed as he arrived at the picturesque former fishing village of Portofino holding hands with retired American actress Capshaw, 69.

The port city, with just 355 residents off-season, has become the epitome of Mediterranean glamor and has become a haven for the rich and famous.

Spielberg’s 357-foot superyacht, built in the Netherlands last year by the luxury company Oceanco, can carry 14 guests in seven cabins and 30 staff in an additional 15 cabins.

Spielberg has named the yacht Seven Seas after selling his decade-old 282ft yacht of the same name in 2021.

Dressed in a smart gray jacket, jeans with a cream fedora hat, the award-winning director looked relaxed as he and his wife entertained friends on the huge superyacht.

The yacht, designed by Sinon Yacht Architecture & Design, features a large swimming pool at the rear and a spa pool on the deck. There are some reports that it also has a helicopter landing pad at the front.

It is powered by two MTU 20V 4000 M73L diesel engines that can produce 4,813 horsepower each and propel the ship at up to 20 knots, according to Robb Report.

Spielberg, who watched Oppenheimer alongside Beatles legend Paul McCartney in late July, and his wife then took a leisurely stroll through the harbor town where superyachts bob in the marina.

Kris Jenner, 67, and her longtime boyfriend Corey Gamble, 42, have also been spotted in Portofino this summer, as have occasional exes Elon Musk and Grimes.

Spielgberg’s arrival in Italy coincides with the Venice Film Festival on the other side of the country’s coastline. Last night, all eyes were on Bradley Cooper’s film Maestro, which Hollywood heavyweights Spielberg and Martin Scorsese also produced.

Notably absent from the Venice Lido, where the festival is held, was Cooper himself, who stars in the film as the late composer Leonard Bernstein. Much of Hollywood is staying away from the red carpet due to the ongoing strike action by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA. Maestro belongs to Netflix, an affected company.

A festival spokesman confirmed last month that he would not be present in solidarity with the strike of the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA.

The 2023 Venice Film Festival will be a much more subdued affair than in recent years, as much of Hollywood chooses to stay away for fear of breaching the strikes.

The glitzy Italian event kicked off Wednesday and normally some of Hollywood’s biggest stars grace the red carpet to promote their work.

This year, however, only a handful of independent productions are allowed to be promoted by their stars, with Venice confirming on Monday that Adam Driver and Jessica Chastain will still appear at the festival.

Cooper’s film Maestro was at the center of controversy prior to its premiere in Venice.

After a trailer and publicity stills were released, the nose drew heavy criticism from a number of leading members of the Jewish community, who accused Cooper of resorting to “Jewface” in his portrayal.

The makeup artist who created Cooper’s nose apologized Friday for causing “hurt.”

Two-time Oscar winner Kazu Hiro, who previously transformed Gary Oldman into Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour, said of the storm, “I didn’t expect this to happen. I’m sorry I hurt some people’s feelings.”

He added: ‘My goal, and Bradley’s, was to portray Lenny as authentically as possible. Lenny had a truly iconic look that everyone knows – there are so many photos because he’s also photogenic – such a great person and inspired so many people.

“So we wanted to respect the look on the inside as well. That’s why we did several tests and made many decisions, and that was the result in the film.’

However, Bernstein’s family has defended Cooper for wearing a prosthetic nose in the biopic about the composer. “It’s true that he had a nice big nose,” said the Bernstein children’s statement.
