Welcome to Fotospotlight. For our latest installment of the series, ANDY HOOPER has put together his best photos from the 2024 Motocross of Nations.

With the sport’s origins tracing back to Britain, it was fitting that the world’s best riders would come together in a clash of nations at the Matterley Basin Grand Prix circuit in Winchester.

The rainy conditions did not detract from the electrifying atmosphere as fans from all over the world cheered on their respective countries in what turned out to be a historic event.

In the end, team Australia, powered by the prodigious talents of Lawrence brothers Hunter and Jett, took home the glory, with the USA finishing in second place and Great Britain in twelfth.

Our man ANDY HOOPER was on hand to capture all the emotion and drama, using a Nikon Z9 and Z8 camera and 24-70mm, 70-200mm and 400mm lenses.

The world’s best motocross riders came to the Mapperley Basin Circuit for the 2024 Motocross of Nations event

Twenty countries were represented in the event over the weekend, which has been dubbed the Olympic Games of Motocross

Max Anstie, Tommy Searle and Conrad Mewse made up Team Great Britain at this exciting event

Team GB eventually finished 12th as a raucous home crowd cheered them on amid rainy conditions in Hampshire

Fans from all corners of the world watched as the event returned to Britain for the first time in seven years

Each country will be represented at the event by a rider in the 125cc, 250cc and 500cc class

Excited supporters pitched their tents and enjoyed some down time as the rain cleared between races on Sunday

Ultimately, it was team Australia that walked away with the win, as brothers Jett and Hunter Lawrence shone for the Aussies

Team USA was right on their heels throughout, finishing just four points behind second place, while the Netherlands finished in third place

The Americans came agonizingly close to capturing the title for the 24th time, with the event coming down to the final race
