Photo of groom attending his own wedding in Crocs divides the internet with some believing the fashion choice to be ‘unintentional’ and the rest thinking it’s all about ‘comfort’

  • A Reddit user posted a photo of a groom in black Crocs to the social media platform yesterday
  • The groom stood tall and held his bride’s hands
  • Many commentators believe that what the groom did was part of ‘an inside joke’

A bride wore a beautiful white dress and her groom opted for a less formal option: wearing a pair of black Crocs during their wedding ceremony.

A Reddit user posted a photo of the couple at their wedding to the social media platform late last night.

The groom held his bride’s hands as he said his “I do” in clean Crocs.

“Imagine getting ready for three hours and your groom shows up in Crocs,” the Reddit user wrote in his post.

Some social media users thought it was ‘unintentional’ and ‘brought comfort’, while others thought it was ‘an inside joke’.

A few Reddit users noted in the comments section that the bride may also be wearing Crocs, but hers may have been covered by the wedding dress.

It appears she didn’t mind her groom’s choice of shoes, but social media users may never know, as her face is covered with a bridal emoji, while the groom’s was hidden by an upside-down face emoji.

The groom’s Crocs were the most talked about item in the photo, but it’s important to remember that the bridal croc trend started years before this photo was posted.

Several Etsy retailers have been selling custom bridal crocs for years, many of which cost between $120 and $200. A few retailers have received five-star reviews for their Crocs

The shoes’ popularity has grown over the years, and in 2019, “bridal” Crocs were sold online by multiple retailers.

One Etsy retailer, BoHoPearlDesignscurrently sells over 10 different bridal crocs valued up to $153.25.

Another retailer which is known for its custom bridal Crocs received five-star reviews from buyers who purchased the shoes.

“Beautiful shoes, perfect for what my daughter wants for her wedding,” wrote an Etsy member.

Groom Crocs haven’t taken the online retail scene by storm yet, but a few Reddit users have explained why the shoes are a good thing.

In addition to writing about comfort and inside jokes, social media users have slammed the groom, complimented the bride and revealed that they also wore Crocs on their wedding day.

One user joked in his comment, suggesting the bride was part of the Croc-wearing plan.

“Maybe she’s wearing foam toddler shoes under her dress too,” someone commented.

“Maybe one of them is an heir to the Croc family fortune and it’s a condition of staying in Grandpa’s will?”

Two users didn’t believe the Crocs were a big deal, and one person wrote that they don’t think they would have even noticed.

Many Reddit users have shown disdain for the shoes, with one even writing, “Crocs would be a legitimate reason to say no at the altar.”

“Crocs are a valid reason not to date someone,” the Reddit user added.

“They’re terrible.”
