PHOTO: California parents Se and Lue Yang 'murdered at home by their 14-year-old son' – as shocked family says teen was just a 'normal American kid'

The tragic couple allegedly murdered by their 14-year-old son have been pictured for the first time as shocked relatives struggle to understand how a 'normal American child' could kill both his parents.

Se Vang and her husband Lue Yang, both 37, were found dead last Wednesday evening in their remote rural home near Miramonte in Fresno County, California.

The boy is also said to have tried to kill his 11-year-old sister, but she is expected to recover from her injuries. Another brother, seven years old, was at home but was not injured.

The teen called 911 and claimed an intruder had broken in, killed his parents and attacked his sister before fleeing in a pickup truck, but police unraveled his story.

Yang and Vang were part of a large family in California and the Midwest that is now desperate for answers.

'I have never cried so much in my life and I am still in disbelief. If my tears can build a stairway to heaven, I won't stop crying until I can bring you back. I love you two so much,” Yang's brother Lily Lee wrote.

Family spokesman Pao Yang, who runs the local Fresno Center, said no one had any idea what led to the alleged killings.

“They're in shock, they're in tears, they don't know what's going on, they don't know what happened, and you know, you're dealing with minors. You are dealing with three children without their parents,” he said.

“They say he's a good kid, a normal kid, a normal American kid. They don't know what happened. We want to find out what happened. We also want to make sure he's safe.”

The family said Yang and Vang were devoted parents, “beacons of light and leaders within our close circle” who died in a “shocking and untimely manner.”

“The loss we feel is immeasurable and has left a deep void in our family,” they said in a statement.

“There are no words to express how our hearts continually break as we think of the tragic loss of our beloved siblings and think of our babies, who have to survive in this world without their biological parents.

“However, as their family, it is our duty to remain strong to weather this tragedy and support their children.”

Neither had life insurance and the family is trying to raise $60,000 to pay for their funerals, the injured daughter's medical expenses, and to care for their orphaned children.

More than $11,000 has been donated so far.

The family is part of the Hmong community, an ethnic minority from southern China and northern Vietnam.

The Fresno County district attorney said Tuesday that the boy cannot be charged as an adult under California law because of his age.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. He is not mentioned because he is a minor.

Yang and Vang were found dead in their remote rural home on the 4700 block of Dunlap Road, near Miramonte, Fresno County.

Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni said deputies arrived on scene at the 4700 block of Dunlap Road, purchased for $290,000 in 2007, around 7:40 p.m.

They found the bodies of the parents and the seriously injured girl, who was rushed to hospital, and spoke to the teenager.

Officers discovered inconsistencies in the boy's story about a murderous intruder and concluded he may have made it up to cover his tracks.

He used multiple weapons to kill his parents and to kill his sister, Zanoni alleged.

The boy is scheduled to appear in Fresno County Superior Court on Wednesday.
