Phoenix couple are shocked by what they see on the Ring camera after hiring the world's worst dog sitter – before being sent a photo of the WRONG pet and claiming it's theirs

Shocking video footage has captured the moment an Arizona couple's pets ran onto a busy road while being tended to by the world's worst dog sitter.

Brooke Gambino and Mohammad Kabiri were stunned when they checked their Ring camera and saw their beloved dogs Goose and Bernardo allowed to run around unattended in the darkness.

The couple had left their pets with a sitter they found through the app Rover while in Costa Rica. However, it didn't take long for 'red flags' to pop up, including the sitter sending a photo of the wrong dog claiming it was theirs.

It wasn't until they got home and found their house in disarray that they decided to watch the Ring footage and were shocked by the results.

The video shows Gustav and Bernardo running up the road outside the couple's Arizona home toward a moving car for 30 minutes before someone chases them.

Eventually the sitter's boyfriend realizes what has happened and hears shouts, 'Where are those dogs? What have you done?'

The dogs miraculously returned unharmed, but Gambino said their treatment during the journey had been a “disaster.”

'It's a busy street here. Our dogs ran away, they were gone for 30 minutes, she didn't even chase them,” Gambino said 12News.

When they returned home, the couple found mysterious stains and trash everywhere, as well as unidentified belongings.

During their trip, they received a text from the sitter saying she had been taken to hospital and that the dogs would now be monitored by her partner.

However, the footage showed her friend returning for just a few minutes at a time, leaving the dogs locked in crates for almost three days.

'No one is home with the dogs for 23 hours. They are in the crate for three days straight,” Gambino added.

The couple left their beloved dogs Goose and Bernardo with the sitter while they went to Costa Rica

But they immediately panicked after receiving a photo of the wrong dog, which the sitter claimed was theirs

Upon returning home, they found their house in total disarray and realized from watching Ring footage that the dogs had been locked in crates without proper supervision for three days.

'Nothing happened to our dogs by chance. Just by pure luck. We never want anyone to have to deal with that.'

Rover said it will refund the couple in full and has suspended the nanny while it investigates the “unusual” situation.

“As part of our booking process, we encourage pet owners to conduct a Meet & Greet with potential sitters and carefully outline expectations for the care of their pets,” a company statement said.

“All sitters on Rover must pass a background check, complete a safety quiz and have their profile reviewed by a member of our team before offering their services on the platform.
