Phoebe Burgess admitted she finds photos of herself with ex-husband Sam ‘triggering’ as she spoke about her post-divorce life on Additional today on Wednesday.
The 35-year-old influencer was being interviewed by hosts Sylvia Jeffreys and David Campbell on her new Vogue podcast when a picture of the Burgesses in happier times appeared on screen.
In an awkward moment, she said she saw herself dating Sam, a former NRL player turned coach, was a “slight trigger” following their messy divorce in 2019.
“She’s back, honey. Good morning, nice to see you again,” Campbell said at the beginning of the segment.
‘She is back. Just a light trigger with some of those images thrown in, but we’ll get through it,” Phoebe replied, referring to the photo montage during her introduction.

She then said she had “done a good job” as she juggled her career with raising her two children with Sam, daughter Poppy, age six, and son Billy, age four.
‘We’re fine. I always say ‘we’ because I feel like coming in a pack, there are three of us,” she added.
“I think I was joking about hiding in Bowral, but when I got that call from Vogue to do the podcast, things really changed.”

“I don’t put people down and force them to give me the juice of their trauma, but it’s cool to get women talking,” she continued.
Speaking of life as a single mom, Phoebe said it can be “isolating” going it alone, but she’s empowered other women in the same position to tell their stories.
‘[Single parent families are] the fastest growing family in Australia,” she said.
“It can be very isolating to think that the way you planned your life, the future you envisioned for yourself, and the way you like to raise your children has been completely erased and you’re back to a clean slate, ground zero.” .’

Phoebe said she now feels complete going it alone and isn’t looking for love any time soon, despite Sam moving on.
“Knowing that my family is complete, I’m not actively looking for anything… I don’t have that feeling anymore. If things go well, but that’s a freedom I can enjoy,” she said.
Last month, Phoebe talked about her two children on her podcast who saved her from despair during the breakup.
That was the only thing I held on to. That was it. They needed me,” Phoebe said in Under the Gloss.

Phoebe, who split from the controversial Rabbitohs star for a second and final time in October 2019, continued: “So I was still here to be [for the children].
“What gets you off the floor is they need you,” she said.
Sam and Phoebe married in 2015, separated in late 2018, and resumed their relationship in early 2019.
They separated permanently on October 2 of that year and later divorced.
Meanwhile, Sam has since moved on with fashion designer Lucy Graham and the couple are expecting their first child together five months after going public with their relationship.
Daily Mail Australia exclusively revealed last week that Lucy is pregnant and the couple are over the moon.
“We are so excited and happy to start this new chapter together…Have a great day,” Sam said in a statement.
