Phoebe Bridgers is candid about her abortion and explains that she wants to talk about it to reduce the stigma for others.
The 28-year-old singer appeared on the cover of Teen Vogue and looked stunning with her blonde locks smoothed out and with a deep red lipstick.
Earlier this year, Phoebe revealed she had an abortion last fall while on tour, in the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.
Speaking: Phoebe Bridgers is candid about her abortion and explains she wants to talk about it to reduce stigma for others
She wrote on Instagram: “I had an abortion last October while on tour.
“I went to Planned Parenthood where they gave me the abortion pill. It was easy. Everyone deserves such access.’
Phoebe now spoke to Teen Vogue and said of her experience, “I hate going to the doctor’s office, so doing that was terrifying. I also hate having people around a sensitive part of my body, so I was already nervous. [In the end, though,] it was just super fun.’

The hitmaker added: “Don’t let anyone drive you crazy about having an abortion. Because unless you’re doing it in an unsafe way, there are resources for you if you’re trying to get one — and you damn well should have one, for whatever reason.
“It’s super safe. Shout out to Planned Parenthood. I was very detained there during that period.’
Elsewhere in the interview, Phoebe spoke about how rock and alternative music are increasingly dominated by female and LGBTQ+ artists from diverse backgrounds.
She said, “It’s just sad that we have to identify with white guys… I think it shows you how desperate we’ve all been for a goddamn representation. I also think the core of it just wants to be understood.’
She also discussed cancellation culture, especially the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard case, in which people mocked Amber and shared posts praising Johnny.

Phoebe said, “I think there’s been a lie – and I think gays are part of this too – that they have to be the perfect victim, or the perfect survivor, or the perfect representation for your marginalized community.
“When Amber Heard showed neurotic behavior, it was used against her. Then Johnny Depp, out of his mouth, admitted some of the most violent, crazy stuff in the courtroom and it’s somehow like people aren’t surprised?’
She continued: “That whole situation was so disturbing to me, it was treated like a fandom war. Laughing at someone who cries in court? It was disgusting.’
