Phoebe Bridgers gives tips on heartbreak amid ‘split’ from Paul Mescal

Phoebe Bridgers gave her advice on heartbreak and revealed what it’s taught her during an appearance on Amelia Dimoldenberg’s Chicken Shop Date.

It comes as her boyfriend Paul Mescal was photographed looking dejected amid rumors that the couple had split, more than two years after they first sparked dating rumors.

On getting over a breakup, the singer, 28, said: “You just have to do it, and it will end at some point, but you can’t make it end.” That is mine.

When the host of the YouTube series asked the singer what heartbreak had taught her, she quipped, “I think if I had realized that, I still wouldn’t be making music.”

Meanwhile, actor Paul, 26, was seen for the first time on Friday since reports that he and Phoebe have split.

He took to the streets in front of the Almeida Theater in North London, where he stars in the play A Streetcar Named Desire, for a cigarette.

Elsewhere, fans of the couple were quick to share their shock over the alleged split when they took to Twitter to share their upset, saying they “couldn’t handle” the news.

Phoebe fueled romance rumors with Bo Burnham this week after they were seen ‘flirty’ on a comedy show, just weeks after her split from Paul.

Phoebe apparently referenced the reported breakup in her song’s lyrics, as she talks about ‘being alone’.

Taking to Twitter to react to the apparent breakup, one fan wrote: “I saw Phoebe Bridgers and Paul Mescal trending on Twitter and was so excited and omg I’ve never been so knocked down in my entire life after clicking their names.” . .’

Another wrote: ‘As a fan of Phoebe Bridgers and Paul Mescal, I’m not sure how I’ll ever bounce back. I may have to rewatch ‘Normal People’ and listen to ‘Punisher’ for the 67th time.

While a third added: ‘Paul Mescal and Phoebe Bridgers broke up?!?! Oh shit.’

Phoebe’s new song lyrics have also sparked more rumors about her split from Normal People star Paul, 26, as she wrote about “being alone” and seemed to reference a fight between a couple.

The Scott Street hitmaker penned the lyrics for SZA’s recently released song Ghost in the Machine in recent weeks and is featured on the song, which dropped earlier this month.

Her verse on the track sees Phoebe sing about ‘yelling’ at someone at the Ludlow Hotel in Manhattan, New York, and ‘being alone’ in a hotel lobby.

Although she doesn’t reference any names, she has sparked speculation that she is hinting at her split from Paul with the powerful lyric.

She sings, “You said all my friends are on my payroll/You’re not wrong, you’re a jerk/Screaming at you in the Ludlow/I was yours for free.”

“I don’t get existential / I just think of myself and see where it got me / Standing alone in an airport bar or hotel lobby / Waiting to feel clean / That’s fucking boring.”

Phoebe told him recently NME that he had written the lyrics in recent weeks after SZA messaged him on Instagram and asked him to contribute to the song.

She said: ‘It all happened so fast. I wasn’t really used to that in the pop world, because vinyl isn’t such a big consideration until much later, it’s like, ‘Do you want to be on this record? Okay, it’s coming out next week, which I really like. I like that response time.

It comes after Phoebe this week sparked dating rumors with Bo Burnham, who she’s been friends with since 2021.

The couple fueled romance rumors when they attended Kate Berlant’s one-woman show on Monday.

As they sat side by side in the audience at the Connelly Theater in New York City, the filmmaker, 32, reportedly gave Phoebe “his undivided and loving attention.”

The pair were first linked romantically after a source told The Sun that they spent a weekend together in August 2020.

The source shared: ‘Paul invited his friends over and they played wild drinking games. They are both in love. Their membership on celebrity dating site Raya is a red herring to cover up that they are secretly an item.

Paul previously spoke about their romance, telling GQ magazine: “Having someone to lean on at such a crazy time has been invaluable.” I really don’t know where I would be without her.

Meanwhile, Phoebe told NME magazine in May that she thought Paul was a “cute guy” after becoming his fan after watching Normal People.

She followed him on Instagram, and the actor quickly returned the favor.
