A Philadelphia woman who won a $300,000 plea after suing the city for arrest on a driving charge has been convicted of a separate DUI offense.
Khasandra Franklin, 27, was arrested in September 2020 for allegedly attempting to run an assistant district attorney off the road.
Franklin filed suit for false arrest, assault, assault by authorities, and malicious prosecution. That reports ABC News.
The city opted to settle the case for an eye-watering $300,000 that hit Franklin’s bank account just 85 days after the lawsuit was filed.
The payout was the city’s fourth-largest for assault and battery in the past six years and more than five times the average settlement.

In September 2020, Franklin was accused of trying to run Assistant District Attorney Voci off the road.
She was arrested and detained on charges of aggravated assault, but denied the charges.
The charges were dropped on the condition that Franklin undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation for a DUI case that was pending at the time.
She then sued the city and won the big payout.
The DUI case related to an incident that occurred in January 2020, when Franklin crashed her car while under the influence in Hatboro, Pennsylvania.
During the arrest, Franklin threatened to sue and cursed at an officer when asked to take a breath test.
She later pleaded guilty to the charges stemming from this incident.
