Phillip Schofield doesn’t mention his former co-star Holly Willoughby in his new TV show Cast Away – but does take several swipes at his former colleagues.

Despite mentioning ITV co-stars Ant, 48, and December 49, as well as Joanna Lumley, 78, Miss Willoughby is not mentioned at all in the 45-minute episode.

In an outburst that has viewers wondering if it’s aimed at her, Schofield says: “If you’re going to throw someone under a bus, you’ve got to have a really good reason for it.

‘I started in television because I love the details of television, I never wanted to be famous. I’m not worried about that.

‘I’m missing parts of it. I miss most of it, to be honest. But there are parts that I really, really, really don’t miss.

‘You learn a lot about people. I don’t miss that.’

The disgraced presenter revealed this week that he was taking part in his own survival show just 16 months after leaving This Morning after admitting to having an ‘ill-advised but not illegal’ affair with a junior male colleague.

Schofield, 62, is said to have turned down a selection of big-money TV offers before signing up for Cast Away – which he believes will allow him to share his story in an ‘raw and honest’ way.

Ms Willoughby left This Morning on October 23 after co-hosting the show with Schofield for 14 years.

Sources said at the time that she quit because the show “wasn’t the same” after her co-host left, but was ultimately “tipped over the edge” by an alleged “kidnapping and murder plot,” insiders claim.

Meanwhile, Schofield called ITV duo Ant and Dec his “best friends” during the episode.

In May it was suggested that Declan Donnelly had allegedly tried to convince the former presenter to make a TV comeback after the pair enjoyed a four-hour dinner together.

Joanna Lumley was also in attendance and sent him a ‘good luck’ message.

Ms Lumley, 78, appeared on a similar program in 1994. “Listen, Phil, these are the tips I have,” she said.

‘Keep your knives sharp, spend a good part of the day looking for wood, otherwise you won’t be able to eat anything.

“While I was on the island, I made a pair of shoes out of my bra, and I wish you could do something daring, and bring it back so we could all look at it.

“I’ll be thinking about you all the time Phil, and actually I’m a little jealous, lots of love.”
