Phillip Schofield has been dumped by his talent agency after admitting to having an affair with a young colleague at ITV after stepping down from his position as co-presenter of This Morning.

The 61-year-old TV star admitted to having a relationship with a man during his marriage and had previously denied the affair when asked by his agent.

Talent agency YMU, which represents entertainers, athletes and musicians, dropped the former presenter of This Morning after 35 years since the bombshell was revealed.

In a statement, Mary Bekhait, the Group CEO of YMU Group, said: ‘Honesty and integrity are core values for the entire YMU business and define everything we do.

Talent management is a relationship based entirely on trust.

“This week we learned important new information about our client Phillip Schofield.

These facts contradicted what Phillip had previously told YMU, as well as the outside consultants we engaged to support him.

“That’s why we agreed on Thursday to say goodbye to Phillip with immediate effect.”

Schofield also confessed to lying about his relationship with ITV, his colleagues, friends and his agents at YMU.

He also lied to The Mail on Sunday, the newspaper that published the story earlier this month, to whom he “personally apologized for being misled” about the story.

In a statement, Mr Schofield said: ‘The first thing I want to say is: I am deeply sorry for lying to them and to many others about a relationship I had with someone who worked on This Morning.

“I did have a consensual on and off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning.

Contrary to speculation, while I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him in television, it wasn’t until after he started working on the show that it became more than just a friendship.

That relationship was ill-advised, but not illegal. It’s over now.”

In another major blow to the presenter, Schofield confirmed he would be withdrawing his role from the British Soap Awards and resigning from ITV with immediate effect.
