Phil Taylor, 63, will RETIRE for second time from competitive darts next year – with ‘The Power’ to bow out as the most successful player in the sport’s history as a 16-time world champion

Phil Taylor has announced that the World Senior Darts Tour will be his final year on the circuit in 2024.

The 16-time world champion initially retired from the sport in 2018 after reaching the final of the PDC World Championship, but returned to competitive darts last year.

Taylor, known as ‘The Power’, has now confirmed that his glittering, trophy-laden career on the oche is about to enter its final 12 months, but he will also be a global ambassador for the World Senior after his retirement Darts Tour stay.

He said: ‘I will always love to perform to the best of my ability, but time waits for no one and I know this is the right time to retire from the Tour.

‘It has been an incredible journey over the past 35 years and I have loved every minute of it.

“I would like to thank Target and the World Seniors Darts Tour for their support over the years and I look forward to playing in front of darts fans across the country next year.

“I’m going to work as hard as ever to make sure I give the fans what they want and look my best.”

The World Senior Darts Tour consists of 11 events, including the World Senior Darts Championship at the Circus Tavern in February.

Taylor has made it to the quarter-finals the past two years but will be aiming to peak in 2024.
