Phil Neville claims Inter Miami ‘were the BETTER team’ in their fourth defeat of the season

Phil Neville says Inter Miami ‘were the BEST team’ in their fourth loss of the season, insisting the team is NOT ‘reeling’ but ‘full of confidence’ amid mounting pressure

Phil Neville believes his Inter Miami team is a ‘confidence-filled’ group despite a fourth loss in their first six games of the new MLS season.

The coach remained upbeat following a 1-0 loss to FC Cincinnati on Saturday.

Neville expressed his opinion that the performance, in fact, belied the final score.

‘I thought we were the better team by far. With much. … We deserved to get something out of the game. We deserved to win the game,’ Neville said after the game.

“We are a team that is playing with a lot of faith, we are a team that has great quality.”

Former Manchester United man believes his team is still ‘full of confidence’ today

The season is still in its embryonic stages, and despite four straight losses, Neville is optimistic about the imminent future of the South Beach club.

“The results are not going the way we want, that’s the frustrating part, that’s the part we have to stop,” he added.

“That’s the part we need to focus on, but we’re not a team that falters, we’re a team that plays with confidence.”

Yerson Mosquera scored his first MLS goal with a header late in the first half before FC Cincinnati protected their lead.

Roman Celentano made three saves for Orange and Blue as Miami pressured throughout the game.

Miami has lost three of its last four games by one goal.

Neville was furious after his team’s loss to the Chicago Fire last week and rival coach Ezra Henderson said they stand for ‘tight and leave the back post’. The Miami boss responded to the ‘bulls***’ claims.

Next up is a trip to Texas to take on FC Dallas, which sits sixth in the Western Conference with eight points from six games.
