‘Show some respect’: Phil Neville bites back at a reporter for interrupting him during a heated press conference after David Beckham’s struggling Inter Miami team lost again
- Neville was angry with a reporter talking about him after a 3-1 loss to Orlando
- He gave the journalist a cursing gesture before forgetting the question
- Inter Miami have lost eight of their thirteen MLS matches so far this season
Phil Neville told a reporter to show “some f***ing respect” as frustrations boiled over after Inter Miami’s latest defeat.
The Florida club co-owned by David Beckham fell to an eighth defeat in their first 13 MLS games as they lost 3-1 at home to rivals Orlando City on Sunday.
Former England and Manchester United midfielder Neville was giving his post-match press conference when a journalist continued to talk about his answer.
Neville told the reporter he was “always looking for things to be negative about” and continued his response when he was interrupted.
‘Can I finish? Or are you going to disturb?’ Marcel asked his inquisitor.

‘Can I finish? Because I’m not interrupting your question, so don’t interrupt mine, show a little respect.’
Neville then apologized for his profanity before admitting that he had forgotten the question originally asked. The Inter Miami coach then detailed his thoughts on a substitution.
Miami are 12th out of 15 clubs in the MLS Eastern Conference after their latest upset and have won just five of their 13 league games so far this season.
The 46-year-old Neville appeared to have kick-started their season with five consecutive wins in the MLS and US Open Cup, but back-to-back losses to Nashville and Orlando spoiled the mood.
In the all-Florida affair with Orlando, they fell short of Ercan Kara’s goal in the 19th minute, but were tied by Leonardo Campana 12 minutes after halftime.
However, Miami were unable to kick through and strikes from Martin Ojeda and Rafael Santos led them to a defeat that clearly upset the 46-year-old Neville.
They have been linked with a sensational swipe for Lionel Messi when he leaves Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal appears to be the most likely destination for the Argentina World Cup winner.
They will play against Nashville again on Wednesday in the next round of the cup.
