Phil Mickelson has once again sparked controversy, stepping off the track at the PGA Championship to offer some very strong opinions on the LIV-PGA lawsuit.
Mickelson is one of the most high-profile players to have traded the PGA Tour for the Saudi-backed LIV series, reportedly pocketing $200 million.
He’s never far from the spotlight when it comes to criticizing his former employers, and he was once again on Sunday night at Oak Hill.
After completing his final round at the PGA Championship and finishing 58th 10 over par, he was asked why he was still hitting on his old tour.
“I think it’s because I know some things that others don’t,” he told reporters. “I just want to make sure everyone is held accountable.”

He added, “I know a lot of things that come out later.”
Earlier this week, the leftist had confirmed a New York Times report that he had recently met with DOJ investigators. It was also reported that Bryson Dechambeau and Sergio Garcia – two more LIV defectors – had done the same.
In 2022, the federal government opened an investigation into the alleged antitrust conduct of the PGA Tour and is reportedly investigating the tour’s relationship with The Masters, the Official World Golf Rankings, the PGA of America, the R&A and the USGA.
Additionally, Mickelson was asked by reporters what he believes is LIV’s greatest achievement to date.
The 52-year-old six-time big winner said without hesitation: “It has provided 48 new professional golf opportunities at the highest salary, which is unbelievable.”

He added, “It’s… to get a lot of younger fans out there and bring a very different vibe to the game of golf that I think is needed.
“We’re only a year (in) and I think, three to five years out, where we’ll be. But we’re only a year into it, so for me it’s just beginning.
“Two years from now, we’ll have to look back and say, ‘Okay, are we where we want to be?’ And it looks like we’re well on our way.’
Mickelson’s fellow LIV defector Brooks Koepka won the PGA Championship at Oak Hill on Sunday, taking home the $3.15 million prize pool and a fifth major.
