Phil Mickelson has criticized claims that players who have vociferously and publicly defected from the PGA Tour will be treated harsher than their fellow LIV colleagues.
This comes after the PGA Tour agreed to partner with Saudi Public Investment Fund, which funds the LIV competition.
Mickelson took to Twitter to downplay claims that players like him “couldn’t get any favors” for the way they left the PGA Tour.
He said, “What a colossal waste of time. No player on LIV wants to play PGA Tour.”
The 53-year-old then continued to demand a public apology when he accused the PGA tour of “paying millions” to the press to “belittle” the LIV players.

Meanwhile, Patrick Reed admitted that he would love to return to the PGA Tour
He continued, “It would require a public apology and restitution to LIV players for paying millions to Clout media to discredit us all.”
Mickelson was at the center of the LIV Golf scandal from the start as he was heavily criticized for making the move.
However, he supported when the PGA Tour decided to unite with LIV Golf.
Mickelson tweeted “Awesome day today” when the merger was announced and did not elaborate on these thoughts.
However, he has now taken to Twitter again to counter claims that he could be treated harsher because of the public manner in which he left the PGA Tour.
It remains to be seen if any of these claims will materialize, but Mickelson is once again targeting the PGA Tour as he singles them out for criticism.
In addition, Patrick Reed has revealed that he would “love” to return to the PGA Tour in addition to playing in the LIV Gold Series.
In conversation with Golf Week, via The mirror, he said: ‘I’ve always wanted to play and keep my European Tour status. I am an honorary member for life. I’m proud of that.
‘PGA Tour, yes of course I would like to play. The first year of LIV I would have played the minimum – I already played the minimum on the PGA Tour. I have played every event on LIV and I would have played the minimum on the European Tour. I was that one guy when they said no one can play all three. Well, I did. Shocking.’
