Former Manchester United defender Phil Jones has returned to the club just weeks after leaving Old Trafford to observe the academy’s training sessions.
Jones, 31, left Manchester United after his contract expired earlier this summer, after 12 years at the club.
But the ex-United defender is back in Carrington to watch training sessions with his former side’s youth teams.
Sources close to United insist there are no plans for Jones to join the coaching staff on a permanent basis.
Former players regularly come into contact with Old Trafford’s academy, giving young players a great opportunity to work with experienced ex-United players.

Jones is considering the next steps in his career after leaving the club this summer.
He remains a free agent and could sign for a new club outside the transfer window.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the former England international after twelve years at Old Trafford.
After leaving United, he said: “It’s been very difficult in recent years. That cannot be denied.
“You can’t hide from that,” said Jones, who played 229 games for United and scored six goals.
“My family has definitely played an important role in keeping me on track and focused, getting fit and playing more.
“And you know, I missed playing football. I missed it.’
Jones turned down a move to Bordeaux in January 2022 and could not force his way back into the United team before his contract expired this year.
