According to studies, more than 80 percent of American children will develop earaches by the time they are three years old.
The problem is usually the result of a viral infection and can lead to agonizing pain – and is the reason for approximately 30 million visits to the pediatrician each year.
Now, TikTok influencer and pharmacist Dr. Angela Dori has shared an inspired way to treat the problem using two items found in your kitchen.
The video she shared – which has been viewed more than 200,000 times – shows the pharmacy doctor demonstrating the drug that she says will make the pain go away “within a few days.”
Dr. Dori who has 587,000 followers on the platform, begins dipping a paper towel in hot water before placing the soaked tissue in the bottom of a glass.
She then places the glass tightly against her ear. This creates “a vacuum” and heat, which helps with earaches, she says.
Ear pain is often the result of a blockage in the ear canal. This is usually due to fluid that has built up in response to an infection. The fluid causes excessive pressure behind the eardrum, causing the pain.
Experts say that while there are a number of paid treatments, simply using a hot vacuum around the ear canal can cause the fluid to drain, reducing the blockage.
The heat also relaxes the muscles in the area and promotes better blood circulation, relieving the feeling of tightness.
But earache is not the only ailment that doctor Dori tackles with her unconventional hacks.
In another video, which has been viewed almost five million times, the pharmacist suggests that gently massaging the thumb above your knuckle can relieve a sore throat.
Meanwhile, another shows her pressing on the pressure points on either side of her ears as she opens her mouth in an attempt to relieve the ringing sound of tinnitus.
“These hacks have worked for my patients,” says Dr. Dori.
Other suggestions that Dr. Dori shares, are not supported by mainstream American medical bodies, such as rubbing black seed oil and rosemary oil on the scalp to prevent hair loss.

The pharmacist also recommends rubbing turmeric on the joints to treat sports injuries such as sprained ankles and even flare-ups of arthritis.
“All you have to do is mix a teaspoon of turmeric powder with a teaspoon of honey to keep it together, and a dash of Epsom salt or even regular table salt,” she says in a video.
‘Apply it to the affected area, cover it with gauze and put some saran wrap around it.’ When this is repeated for two to three days, it will “work like magic,” she says.
Some research suggests that turmeric may help joint pain, but few have shown benefits in humans
Numerous studies have suggested that turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties for the joints due to its content of a powerful compound called curcumin.
However, few human studies have found significant benefits for conditions such as arthritis and osteoporosis.
Research has also shown that the amount of curcumin in store-bought supplements is too low to provide any health benefits.
