A Peugeot 206 family car has turned into an off-road monster – after its owners equipped it with huge tractor wheels.

The three engineers have finally perfected their second model in a Top Gear-style makeover.

The trio first tried a manual Ford Fiesta, but soon had to switch.

They then switched to the automatic Peugeot hatchback and found the supermini to perform much better.

“We’re living childhood moments from TV – Top Gear, Scrapheap Challenge and Chop Shop – building all the crazy things we saw and thought, ‘Wow, I’d love to do that someday,'” Gareth Jenkins, of Nuneaton, told Warwickshire The sun.

The 29-year-old continued: “Now that we are older, that day has come, and there are sure to be more to come.

“We just wanted to see if we could put some old tractor wheels to work on a car.”

The three friends had to weld a steel rim to the tractor wheel to make it fit the little car.

They also added power bars to make sure it didn’t break.

In Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May created boats, electric cars and unique stretch limousines.

In Scrapheap Challenge, teams competed each week to create a machine – made only from what they could gather from discarded junk.

And in Chop shop, Bangladeshi coachbuilder Nizamuddin Awlia and Cockney mechanic Bernie Fineman converted rusty cars into supercars using basic technology.

The trio wanted to follow their heroes – and created the Peugeot monster.
