Peter Crouch questions point of Tottenham being in Champions League after woeful exit

‘What’s the point of the top four if you play like that in the Champions League?’: Peter Crouch SLAMS Tottenham after their woeful European exit, insisting they should have prioritized the FA Cup because ‘the fans want to see a trophy’

Peter Crouch has questioned the point of Tottenham being in the Champions League after their regrettable exit to AC Milan.

Spurs held to a goalless draw on the night, unable to overturn a 1-0 deficit with the Serie A side in the first leg.

Antonio Conte’s side struggled to create chances, while their misery was compounded by the sending off of Cristian Romero for a second bookable offense with more than ten minutes remaining.

Tottenham is in a fierce battle to reach next season’s tournament, currently sitting in fourth place and hoping to eliminate both Liverpool and Newcastle.

However, former Spurs striker Crouch questioned the point of Tottenham being in the competition, saying he wouldn’t “get mad” at Harry Kane if he wanted to leave this summer.

Tottenham was left out of the Champions League with a 1-0 global defeat against AC Milan

Peter Crouch has questioned the point of Spurs being in the top four if they are going to act like that.

He told BT Sport: ‘What’s the point of the top four if you’re going to act like that in the Champions League? The fans want to see a trophy.

“So to rest the players for that FA Cup game, it was for the league and then they lose the league game.”

Questions are likely to rise over Kane’s future at the club, with the England captain yet to win a trophy.

Manchester United are said to be interested in the 29-year-old, who is out of contract in 2024.

With talk that Conte could leave the club in the summer, Tottenham could be in another transition period if they have to look for a new manager.

Crouch says he wouldn’t blame Kane if he wants to walk away.

He said: ‘How many transition periods will Harry Kane have to wait?

“It’s a short career, I don’t think anyone can envy Harry Kane if he doesn’t move. AC Milan were comfortable tonight.’

Crouch added that he would not envy Kane if he wanted to walk away from the club.
