Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Peter Crouch believes there are few midfielders better than Yves Bissouma when he is on top form.
Bissouma made the 60th appearance of his Spurs career on Thursday evening when he started a UEFA Europa League match against Qarabag.
This was Bissouma’s fourth appearance of the season, despite manager Ange Postecoglou suspending him for Tottenham’s opening match of the campaign after footage emerged of the 28-year-old inhaling nitrous oxide in August.
Bissouma made amends on his return from that club ban by scoring his first goal for Spurs in a 4–0 win over Everton.
He also made an impressive cameo in last weekend’s 3-1 win over Brentford.

Bissouma was the subject of a pre-match discussion TNT Sports prior to Thursday’s game.
When asked by presenter Lynsey Hipgrave how good Bissouma could potentially be for Spurs in the long term, Crouch replied: ‘It’s just consistency. I have seen games where I think he is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
“I think he has so much skill and he has players around him who can get the ball. I think he can do a little bit of everything.
‘He’s fantastic as a defensive midfielder, but I think he has a bit more to offer than that. He can play too. He can go past people. He can figure out fainting.
‘He is an all-round midfielder and I think if he regains the trust of his manager and the fans he will be a mainstay at this club for a long time.’
Another ex-Spurs star Glenn Hoddle added: ‘When I saw him at Brighton I thought he was excellent. That player is still there at the moment.

Glenn Hoddle said he thought Bissouma was ‘excellent’ when he first saw him play
‘He hasn’t quite shown that yet at Tottenham. He’s done some really good things, but he’s also done some crazy things that make me think, “You need to be more responsible in that position.”
‘But as a midfielder he has a little bit of everything.’
