Peter Crouch admits he prays every night before bed after he ‘begged God to make him a footballer’
Abbey Clancy revealed that her husband Peter Crouch prays to God every night in a special ritual he has – and she must remain silent while he does so.
Peter, 47, admitted it started as a kid when he asked God to make him a footballer when he’s older – and it came true, so now he feels he needs to continue the dialogue.
During the latest episode of their podcast The Therapy Crouchthe couple – who have been married since 2011 and four children share – discussed Peter’s routine.
Peter giggled as Abbey, 37, recounted the story: “So you say prayers every night.

βIt’s funny, like when we go to sleep, of course I’ll talk. And then he just wants to stop talking.
“And then of course β I’ve been sleeping in the same bed as him for 17 years now β so I just like to stop talking while he says his prayer, and then just continue my conversation.”
“I say it in my head,” Peter explained.
Begging, Abbey admitted, “I really want to know what it is.”
Peter kept it discreet and joked, “It’s private, isn’t it?”
Abbey refused to give up and insisted on exactly what her husband was praying for.
She guessed, “He’ll be like, dear God, can you please take care of all my loved ones?”
“I just want to say thank you for my home, happiness and can you please take care of my family and loved ones and blah blah?”

Peter revealed, βNot far off. I like to just appreciate what you have.’
Continuing her guessing game, Abbey asked, “Did it start with please God, please can I be a footballer?” I’ll do anything if you make me a footballer.’
Peter struggled to hold back his smile and admitted, βIt hurt a little. That’s really what I asked for as a kid. You literally nailed it.β
“Because I know you,” Abbey replied smugly that she finally had her answer.
Peter gave more details and continued, βThat’s how it started, but like, that’s what happened, right?
“And then I thought, ‘Oh my God, I believe in him! I better go thank him!'”
It was clear that Peter’s prayer paid off as he had been a professional footballer for over 20 years, playing for Aston Villa, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, among others.
He has scored over 100 Premier League goals, recorded 42 caps for England and holds the record for most goals headed in Premier League history.
Last month, Abbey shocked fans when she revealed that her husband tells her he wants to have sex by sending her three emojis.

She said, “I just don’t know how long I can go on with these sexual emojis you keep sending me.
“When the kids go to school and he likes to hear me, put the key in the door I’m in and no one’s in the house, I’ll just get a beaver and an eggplant emoji text.” I’m not even going to say the latter, but you can imagine what it is.’
Peter laughed and confirmed, “There are three emojis.”
βI got a little bit of hydration there,β Abbey said, referring to the splashing sweat emoji as Peter continued to laugh.
‘How pathetic is that? Should I go, “Oh yeah, now I feel like it.”‘
Peter said, βI think the beaver emoji is the best emoji of the bunch. It’s unbelievable.’
Abbey asked, “Do you think you’ll be lucky with those messages?”
Peter replied, “I’ll just let you know, I’m putting my cards on the table.”
It comes after Abbey shared how she ties her robe in the back while drying her hair to prevent Peter from trying to get frisky.
The stunner said she previously blow-dried her hair naked because she found the hot air from the machine too hot.
However, her sporty husband tried to get amorous, prompting her to lock him out of the bedroom while tying her dressing gown in a way that is too confusing for the former footballer to quickly undo.
Abbey asked, “Do you think you’ll be lucky with those messages?” to which Peter replied, ‘I’ll just let you know, I’ll put my cards on the table’
She explained, βIt drives me crazy. I’ve come up with a new tactic with the robe. Instead of tying the belt in the front, I tie it in the back.
“It’s like ‘how do I untie this thing?’ It works wonderfully.’
When Peter asked her why she didn’t want him to admire her, she told him, βYes. Any other time is fine, but not when I’m getting ready.
“But it’s nice to know that after 16 years you’re still desirable to your man.”
Abbey and Peter married in 2011 and the couple are parents to Sophia, 11, Liberty, seven, Johnny, five, and three-year-old Jack.
