Real Madrid are offering Jude Bellingham the chance to become the new Luka Modric next summer, but fear the England international is leaning towards Liverpool due to a move to LaLiga.
Madrid have given up on the hunt for Kylian Mbappe after tricking them into finishing his Paris Saint-Germain contract last summer, only to re-sign with the French club for an eye-catching €180m fee. plus 70 million euros in wages .
Now they have turned their attention to the 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder, and his stellar performances in the Champions League this season have fueled the club’s interest.
Real Madrid want to sign English midfielder Jude Bellingham from Dortmund next summer
But the Spanish giants fear Bellingham may want to move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool instead
When his name was first leaked as a possible signing, there was a disappointing response from supporters who were disappointed at the failure to bring Kylian Mbappe in after hearing for so many weeks that his arrival was a mere formality when the French season was over.
But Bellingham’s performances in Europe have changed that and the idea of a midfield quartet with Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelian Tchouameni aged 19, 24, 19 and 22 respectively is the club’s plan for next summer.
Madrid have a good relationship with Borussia Dortmund and believe the club will sell to them if they match a Premier League offer, but it could be more difficult to convince the player that Cadena Ser reported earlier this month that he would prefer indicates to Liverpool.
The 19-year-old would be brought in as a long-term replacement for club legend Luka Modric
Real Madrid failed in their pursuit of PSG and French superstar Kylian Mbappé last summer
A guaranteed starting spot in a new midfield could be key for Madrid and, just as they sold Casemiro, having not arrived before Tchouameni, the opportunity to finally say goodbye to Modric could be used to convince him.
Modric is 37 and has an ongoing contract that is renewed at the end of each season. Bellingham’s arrival would likely coincide with the departure of the player widely recognized as the greatest midfielder in Real Madrid’s history.
But the club’s main fixer, Juni Calafati, knows he still has a lot of work to do to ensure Bellingham chooses Madrid over a return to England.
