Pete Davidson jokes about having ‘that post-rehab glow’ following treatment after using ketamine daily for four years: ‘Seventh time’s the charm’

Comedian Pete Davidson shed some light on his candidness about using ketamine, an anesthetic that induces a state of sedation, daily for four years.

Despite describing the drug as “magical” during a comedy show on Sunday, the 29-year-old Saturday Night Live alum said he recently entered rehab to address his use of the drug, which is FDA-approved to treat depression.

β€œI just got out of rehab, y’all,” he told the crowd at the Ettes Arena at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. ‘I have that glow from after the rehabilitation. The seventh time’s the charm!’

The actor went on to explain that before his 30th birthday in November, he realized he was too old to use dugs.

β€œ(You) shouldn’t do drugs in your 30s,” he said. “It’s not fun anymore… you’re just a drug addict if you use drugs at that age.”

While reflecting on how ketamine affected his mental state, Davidson revealed that he once “got The Wiggles to join Schindler’s List.”

Recalling another memory of himself under the influence, the star admitted that he was so high at Aretha Franklin’s funeral in 2018 that he couldn’t believe he was going out in public.

Davidson’s latest revelation comes after he told an audience at a recent comedy performance that “he had been taking ketamine” to treat his depression.

The actor and funnyman, 29, reportedly made the confession while on stage at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday night, where he was warming up the crowd for Dave Chappelle, according to Page six insiders.

Ketamine is approved as a medical product for use as a short-acting anesthetic via injectable (in both humans and animals) and also for the treatment of resistant depression administered via nasal spray, according to the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

A spokesperson for the comedian told DailyMail.com: ‘Pete Davidson does not use ketamine,’ and an unnamed guest on the show told DailyMail.com that Pete admitted to using ketamine in the past but said he has not used the drug . since undergoing treatment in rehab.

Ketamine, also called Special K, is called a “dissociative anesthetic hallucinogen” according to the DEA because it makes the person feel disconnected from their environment and pain.

In 2020, Pete spoke candidly about his depression, through an interview with Charlemagne is God.

‘I’m always depressed, all the time. I have to pull myself out all the time,” the actor said.

‘I wake up depressed, but now I know my steps. I need to go outside and be in the sun for a while, or take a walk. It’s all just programming yourself to trick your brain,” Pete continued.

β€œI hit (rock bottom) all the time. My lowest point is when people are afraid for my life and I have to leave, and then I have to pick myself up again. I think I’ve hit it a few times already. As long as you are around good, supportive people and if you are strong enough, you can get out,” he said in the interview.

At the time, Pete said he goes into a spiral when he “does a little too much shrooms (psychedelic mushrooms) and a little too much acid (LSD) and has a little too much fun and doesn’t sleep, doesn’t take care of myself.” .’
