Pete Davidson reveals he was so high on KETAMINE at Aretha Franklin’s funeral in 2018 that he told singer’s family he’d like to ‘pay his R-E-S-P-E-C-Ts’ in mortifying incident

Pete Davidson has revealed he was high on ketamine when he attended Aretha Franklin’s funeral in 2018.

The comedian, 30, who previously revealed he used the dissociative drug daily for four years, said he was ashamed of the incident in his Netflix special Pete Davidson: Turbo Fonzarelli.

He said: ‘It’s embarrassing when you stop using ketamine, but… I’m ashamed. I was on my way soon. That’s not cool, you know?

‘I was at funerals like that. That’s damned, right? I was so at Aretha Franklin’s funeral. Yes, I have to live with that. You know what I mean?

‘She’ll never know, but still, that’s not the point. You know what I mean?”

“If she was there, she’d probably say, ‘Hey, who are you? And what the hell are you doing at my funeral?’

‘It’s humiliating. I’m so high that I thought it would be a good idea to go to her family and say, “Hey, I’m just here to show my RESPECT….”

The star caused mass confusion when he attended the service for the music icon with then-fiancée Ariana Grande.

The couple happily posed for photos at the funeral with former President Bill Clinton.

In September 2023, at his comedy show in Atlantic City, the star told the audience that he believes you “can’t do drugs in your 30s” because “it’s not cute anymore” and “you’re just a drug addict.”

Davidson is currently in a relationship with actress Madelyn Cline.

The couple started dating late last year, a month after the Staten Island native split from Chase Sui Wonders.

An insider told DailyMail.com that while Madelyn is having “fun” with the funny guy, she doesn’t believe the relationship will be anything more than “a good time.”

He said: 'It's embarrassing. I'm so high, I thought it would be a good idea to go to her family and go... "Hey, I'm just here to show my RESPECT...S."' (photo at the funeral)

“Madelyn expects that her current relationship with Pete will be a fun one and that it won’t be her last,” the source said.

‘She thinks he’s hilarious and fun and she wants to hang out with him, but she’s 25 and doesn’t want anything serious. She wants to pursue fun, and she thinks Pete feels the same way and that their relationship is about having fun.”

The person added: “It’s not serious in any way. She’s taking it day by day and that’s the only thing that’s working for her right now. Pete shouldn’t expect her to be his soulmate; she doesn’t radiate those vibrations.’

Davidson dated Chase from December 2022 until news of their breakup came to light in August – two months after he entered rehab for his ongoing battle with borderline personality disorder and PTSD.

When they split, a separate source told Us Weekly, “There is no bad blood or hard feelings between them.

“Their relationship just ran its course and they decided they just wanted different things.”

Pete first crossed paths with Chase on the set of Bodies Bodies Bodies.

Last June, Pete entered rehab amid an ongoing battle with borderline personality disorder and PTSD – just weeks after leaving an expletive-laden voicemail with charity PETA.

Davidson, who has spoken openly about his mental health problems, has entered the facility to take a ‘mental break’, DailyMail.com can confirm.

A friend told me Page six: ‘Pete regularly goes to rehab to tune up and get some mental rest, so that’s what happens.

A close source added: ‘Anyone who knows Pete knows he will always seek help when he knows he needs it.

“He has a lot of people in his corner who love him, support him and are proud of him.”

“He’s taking a well-deserved break so he can focus on himself and better manage his PTSD issues.”

Davidson’s father, Scott Davidson, was a firefighter who died at the World Trade Center on September 11 when the comedian and actor was just seven years old – and the star has previously spoken about his mental health following his father’s death.
