Pete Buttigieg sparks outrage for attacking Trump’s age and fitness for office, after he faced criticism for adding to Biden ‘cover-up’

Pete Buttigieg is attempting to flip the script, claiming that American voters are now shifting their concerns about his fitness for office onto Donald Trump after Joe Biden, 81, withdrew.

Following President Biden’s remarks Sunday morning, criticism of President Biden’s Transportation Secretary has emerged from advocates, who have said they have no concerns about the 78-year-old former president’s age or mental state.

Buttigieg argued that now that Biden has made the “selfless” decision to end his candidacy, voters are confronted with the “reality” of Trump’s mental acuity.

“No, we don’t care about his age and we never have. We don’t care at all,” wrote one pro-MAGA user on X. “Look how Harris is a lot younger than him, yet just as clueless and incompetent as Biden.”

Biden dropped out of the presidential race on Sunday after weeks of pressure from Democrats to end his campaign and a very public mental decline that culminated in a disastrous debate with Donald Trump last month.

“The president has made an extraordinary, historic and selfless choice to withdraw from the nominating process and focus 100 percent on the presidency,” Buttigieg told Fox News Sunday host Shannon Bream.

“I think that was the right thing to do,” he continued. “I know he wants to sprint through the tape in terms of the work of the presidency. In the meantime, we have a new nominee.”

Buttigieg, who has been rumored to be a vice presidential nominee, has continued to support Vice President Kamala Harris and her takeover of Biden’s campaign.

Harris, 59, is the new presumptive nominee for the Democratic ticket in November.

“I’m sure voters are concerned about the age and the sharpness of President Trump compared to Kamala Harris, who is a generation younger,” Buttigieg said. “And how can anyone not look at what he’s saying, the bluster on the trail, and not be a little bit concerned?”

“Americans are concerned about him in all sorts of ways and he is no longer running against President Biden,” he continued.

But MAGA fans came to Trump's defense, claiming they have no concerns about his fitness for office or his chances against a younger candidate.

Buttigieg claims Trump is “desperate” to still run against the incumbent president.

Bream asked Buttigieg if Harris was aware of Biden’s mental and physical decline, as a new poll shows a large number of Americans believe the vice president was involved in a “cover-up.”

“We all know how he is,” he admitted. “Our country has seen our president lead, and yes, we’ve also seen that he’s 10 years older than he was years ago.”

“But unlike Republicans, who look at Donald Trump in his personality cult and say he’s doing just fine, even though he can’t seem to tell the difference between Nikki Haley and Nancy Pelosi, even though he talks about electrocuting sharks and Hannibal Lecter, and even though he’s clearly older and weirder than when America first knew him, they say he’s strong as an ox and can leap tall buildings in a single bound,” Buttigieg said.

He added: “We are not dealing with that kind of twisted reality.”
