Pete Buttigieg sparks anger over criticism of Trump’s age and fitness

Pete Buttigieg (pictured) is attempting to flip the script, claiming that American voters are now shifting their concerns about his fitness for office onto Donald Trump after Joe Biden, 81, withdrew.
Following President Biden’s remarks Sunday morning, criticism of President Biden’s Transportation Secretary has emerged from advocates, who have said they have no concerns about the 78-year-old former president’s age or mental state.
Buttigieg claimed that now that Biden has made the “selfless” decision to end his candidacy, voters are being confronted with the “reality” of Trump’s mental acuity. “No, we are not concerned about his age and never have been, it doesn’t matter to us at all,” wrote one pro-MAGA user on X. “Look how Harris is as (sic) much younger than him, yet just as clueless and incompetent as Biden.”
Biden dropped out of the presidential race on Sunday after weeks of pressure from Democrats to end his campaign and a very public mental decline that culminated in a disastrous debate with Donald Trump last month.
“The president made an extraordinary, historic, selfless choice to recuse himself from the nominating process and focus 100 percent on the presidency,” Buttigieg told Fox News Sunday host Shannon Bream. “I think that was the right thing to do,” he continued. “I know he wants to sprint through the tape on the work of the presidency. In the meantime, we have a new nominee.”
Buttigieg, who has been rumored as a vice presidential candidate, has continued to support Vice President Kamala Harris and her takeover of Biden’s campaign. Harris, 59, is the new presumptive nominee for the Democratic ticket in November. “I’m pretty sure voters are concerned about the age and the sharpness of President Trump compared to Kamala Harris, who is a generation younger,” Buttigieg said.
“And how can anyone not listen to what he says, to his ramblings on the trail, and not be a little bit concerned?” “Americans are concerned about him in all sorts of ways, and he’s not running against President Biden anymore,” Buttigieg continued.
Buttigieg claims Trump ‘desperately wants’ to still run against the incumbent president. Bream pressed Buttigieg on whether Harris knew the extent of Biden’s mental and physical decline, as a new poll showed a plurality of Americans believe the VP was involved in a “cover-up.”
“We all know how he is,” he admitted. “Our country has seen our president lead, and yes, we’ve also seen that he’s 10 years older than he was years ago.”
“But unlike Republicans, right, who in the Trump cult of personality look at Donald Trump and say he’s perfectly fine, even though he can’t seem to tell the difference between Nikki Haley and Nancy Pelosi, even though he babbles on about electrocuting sharks and Hannibal Lecter, even though he’s clearly older and weirder than when America first knew him, they say he’s strong as an ox, he can leap tall buildings in a single bound,” Buttigieg said. He added: “We don’t have that kind of twisted reality on our side.”
