PETA urge Gavin and Stacey’s Pam to go VEGAN as they appeal to James Corden and Ruth Jones ahead of the finale episode

Fans rejoiced earlier this month after it was revealed that Gavin and Stacey will return for the final ever episode on Christmas Day.

And while viewers have been wondering what Smithy’s response will be to Nessa’s shock proposal and whether we’ll finally find out what really happened on that fishing trip, others are wondering about Pam’s vegetarianism and whether she might have gone vegan.

Pam Shipman, played by Alison Steadman, finds herself caught in a web of lies after pretending to be a vegetarian after wrongly fearing that Stacey’s family won’t be meat-eaters.

And now PETA has called on James Corden and Ruth Jones, urging them to take Pam’s dietary beliefs one step further and make her vegan.

In an iconic episode, Pam fears she will become known as ‘Three Steaks Pam’ after replacing her carbs and peas with extra steaks in her latest diet attempt.

However, PETA has suggested she become ‘Three Tofu Blocks Pam’ and enjoy Christmas with a meat-free centerpiece and plenty of vegan eggnog.

PETA Vice President of Programs Elisa Allen wrote in a letter to the show’s writers: “By making Pam vegan for the finale, you’re ensuring that whether or not she gets ‘drunk, drunk’ this Christmas, she’ll enjoy it.” enjoy a ‘good lush’ spread while smart pigs, curious turkeys and industrious fish are spared suffering.

“This act of compassion that promotes a better future for all would be a wonderful note to end such a beloved series.”

The animal rights charity believes that making Pam a proud vegan would encourage viewers to enjoy their own animal-free Christmas.

In Britain alone, around nine million turkeys are killed for Christmas dinner every year. Therefore, anyone who was inspired to follow Pam’s example by going vegan would save the lives of nearly 200 animals each year.

Furthermore, widespread adoption of vegan food could reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 70% by 2050.

She is later forced to eat cauliflower cheese (without the cheese) while visiting Barry, after Gwen kindly cooks her a separate dish to suit her vegetarian needs, causing Pam to silently beg Mick to give her some chili.

In another heart to heart with Dawn, she confesses, “I can’t tell her Dawn, the lie is too deep. I’m in it up to my neck.”

The sitcom’s final episode aired at Christmas 2019, and a lot can change in five years, so perhaps Pam has embraced veganism and ditched meat for good.

Elisa wrote: ‘It’s been four years since the last Christmas special aired, and in that time we’ve learned more about how eating meat affects animals, the environment and human health – so it’s only right that Pam is a puts a vegan turkey on the table. on the table.

‘Before her brief “vegetarian” stint, Pam feared she would be known as “Three Steaks Pam,” and we understand why she would be embarrassed by that name. Raising and killing animals for food is cruel.

‘At any given time, around 23 billion animals worldwide are languishing on filthy factory farms. In Britain alone, more than 1 billion animals are mercilessly killed for food every year.’

Explaining why she should embrace a new nickname, they added: ‘Conversely, by adopting the moniker ‘Three Tofu Blocks Pam’ the character would be a champion for animals and the planet – throwing away animal food saves the lives of almost 200 people. creatures feel every year while reducing the individual ecological footprint by as much as 75%!

‘She would also have a reduced risk of stroke, heart disease, certain cancers, diabetes and other ailments. Furthermore, vegans are on average up to 9 kilograms lighter than adult meat eaters – an aspect that we know fits in well with Pam’s priorities.’

They also explained that vegan Christmas food has come a long way since the characters last appeared on our screens, explaining that everything from plant-based pigs in blankets to spectacular vegan roasts is now readily available.
