PETA slammed over ‘weirdly sexual’ message about Thanksgiving

Animal rights group PETA is being ridiculed online for its Thanksgiving campaign, which features a couple stuffing a turkey and making lewd comments.

The promotional cartoon, which was shared online, shows a couple stuffing a turkey for Thanksgiving as their children watch from the kitchen door.

Speech bubbles from their mouths show the father figure saying, “Let’s open those legs,” while the woman says, “And stuff him all up.”

In the background, two children watch in horror, saying “gross” and “ew.”

While the animal rights group released the poster with the intention of encouraging people to buy vegan meals for Thanksgiving, it sparked a backlash from consumers.

“Only PETA would try to make cooking a family dinner weirdly sexual,” one user commented.

“Stuffing is one of the best parts of Thanksgiving dinner,” declared another.

“You’re just making it weird,” someone else countered.

“We have a biracial couple sexually assaulting a turkey in front of the kids and the family dog,” another user joked, attaching a photo of Don Draper throwing something on Mad Men.

“I’m convinced this is a satire lmao gold,” someone else added.

“Why tf (the f***) PETA goes crazy over my TL (timeline),” one person wondered.

PETA has long raised eyebrows for their controversial promotional posters and commercials.

In March they launched the concept of saying ‘cheese’ in front of a photo, encouraging people to think about what it ‘really means’.

The group was ridiculed after suggesting people use new terms that “reflect our changing values” as younger people opt for a dairy-free lifestyle.

The video, released in March to ‘Cow cow separation. ”

Another shows two young women taking a selfie while saying: ‘Repeated and forced fertilization!’ and a man cheers as he poses and says, “Dehorning and tail docking!” Wow!’

The campaign, which then encourages viewers to say ‘peas’ or ‘bees’ or ‘nutritional yeast’ instead of cheese, insists that ‘tired, old-fashioned expressions’ should be replaced with more ‘animal-friendly expressions’.

But the post was met with outrage from people, many of whom took to social media to mock the campaign for its adherence to new pro-vegan terminology.

Earlier this week, turkey supplier Butterball was targeted by trolls after a shocking PETA investigation revealed that animal abuse occurred at the company’s factory ahead of Thanksgiving.

Footage captured by PETA 20 years ago showed brutal abuse and torture of turkeys. Furious fans have stormed the food giant’s social media pages as they demand Butterball take responsibility.

PETA’s investigation found that employees sat on turkeys, hit and battered the animals, and sexually assaulted them at the Ozark, Arkansas site in 2006.

An unnamed researcher revealed the alleged atrocities he witnessed when workers “chained and slaughtered” more than 50,000 turkeys every day, according to PETA.

In the shockingly graphic video, the investigator claimed he saw a Butterball employee stick his finger into a turkey’s cloaca, or vagina, for “fun.”

Another worker allegedly “humped” a turkey while it was being held.

In response to the online backlash the company is receiving, a Butterball representative wrote to DailyMail.com: “We are aware of a video from nearly two decades ago that is being reshared on social media.

‘This video is not current and in no way reflects our animal welfare policy.

‘Animal care and welfare are central to who we are as a company, and we are committed to the ethical and responsible care of our flocks. “That means maintaining the health and well-being of our turkeys is an ongoing effort.”

The spokesperson added that Butterball has annual audits conducted by a third party to ensure its facilities meet “more than 200 science-based best practice standards for turkey care.”

The researcher recalled another terrifying example where a “worker challenged another worker by holding a bird by the legs and pulling her back and forth.”
