Peta Murgatroyd pregnant: DWTS pro is expecting second child with Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Dancing With The Stars couple Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are expecting their second child together.

The duo welcomed their son Shai in 2017 and Peta, 36, has been open about her harrowing fertility struggles while trying to have another child.

Now she has joyfully announced: ‘After 2 years of constant struggle and anguish, 3 miscarriages and one failed embryo transfer… we have a healthy bun in the oven.’

She spoke in a new interview with People magazine that she is nearly 18 weeks pregnant, saying, “All natural, it just happened.”

Peta was about to attempt a second round of IVF when she received the news that she had conceived.

“I didn’t even know I was pregnant for so long until I really felt sick. I danced with him Dancing with the stars,’ she said.

“I started to feel weird, I started to feel a little sick and a little bloated and I didn’t want to get tested for weeks,” Peta confessed candidly.

She was near the “six or seven week” point of her pregnancy when she finally got tested and “I think it was the fastest positive result I’ve ever seen in my life.”

The Auckland-born hoofer said: ‘It just came up super fast and it surprised me. It has been completely different from my previous pregnancy. It wasn’t like she was jumping for joy and screaming from the rooftops, “Oh my gosh, I’m pregnant. Yay!”

Peta, who has suffered three miscarriages, said: “It was more like, ‘Okay, let’s see what happens because I’ve been through this four other times and it hasn’t worked.” So I was very skeptical. I didn’t even tell Maks for a while.

Taking the news to Instagram, he wrote: “It gives me immense joy to finally announce that @maksimc and I are expecting our Chmerkovskiy #2.”

Candor: Peta revealed that when she found out she was pregnant again, she “didn’t even tell Maks for a while” as her previous fertility process had left her “very skeptical”

The loss occurred in the fall of 2020 in a Whole Foods bathroom, leaving her “sobbing” and “whining” for hours while sitting on the toilet.

When she miscarried again nine months later, she was about to fly to New York to tell Maksim that she was pregnant, and instead had to tell him that she had lost the baby.

In October 2021, when her husband was in his native Ukraine to work on his version of Dancing with the Stars, Peta suffered a third miscarriage.

At the time, she was so sick with COVID-19 that she “couldn’t open a dishwasher” or even “open the fridge to feed Shai, to get her some toast.”

After passing out in her son’s room, Peta, who at the time didn’t even know she was pregnant, was rushed to the hospital and told she had lost a baby.

Peta eventually discovered that she had a hormonal disorder called polycystic ovarian syndrome that was affecting her fertility.

She announced last June that she was trying IVF, stating: “For the first time in almost two years, I feel emotional. I am in a much happier place. I have answers.

”I have no other words than hope and positivity,” her husband said. ‘I cross my fingers that this works.’
