Ralph the cavapoo mascot disappeared during his morning walk and took a 100-mile round trip in a taxi before returning home.

  • Three-year-old mischievous dog Ralph ran away from his owner in Wrexham, North Wales
  • He finally made it home to owner Georgia Crewe, after a mysterious cab ride.

A pet dog ran away from a beautiful place and embarked on a 100-mile cab ride adventure while his owner worried about his whereabouts at home.

Georgia Crewe, 27, was walking three-year-old Ralph at Gresford Quarry in Wrexham, north Wales, when she disappeared from sight.

Ralph, a cross between a Poodle and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, did not return Georgia’s concerned calls and spent three hours trying to find him.

Unbeknownst to her, the dog had jumped into a warm open cab after running to a nearby house.

Miss Crewe, of Wrexham, says the driver was on his way to Manchester airport and therefore carried little Ralph lost on the journey.

Ralph, a cross between a poodle and a King Charles Spaniel, went missing from Wrexham, north Wales, on Monday morning while out walking with his owner, Georgia Crewe.

After hours of frantically searching for her dog, Miss Crewe (pictured with Ralph) was delighted to be contacted and found by a taxi driver.

Ralph’s big cab adventure saw him leave Wales and head to Manchester Airport in the afternoon, while his exasperated owner spent hours looking for him at home.

She said: ‘It turned out that he had left the quarry and was back on the road heading home.

“A taxi had arrived to pick up a family that was going on vacation. It was cold and Ralph just got in the cab.

Ralph had run away from Miss Crewe at 5am Monday while she was chatting with the owner of another dog on her morning walk.

The bewildered taxi driver allowed the friendly dog to stay in the car while he made the long drive to the airport, noting that he had no visible identification on his collar.

The airport passenger also had no objection to having a four-legged fellow traveler accompany him.

After being dropped off at the airport, Ralph was taken to the driver’s home in Mold, Flintshire, before an online search revealed the owner.

Miss Cooke has now been reunited with her dog and is ready to get a geolocation tag, flashing light and ID disc to make it easier to find if she decides to embark on another 100 mile adventure.

Miss Cooke said of her beloved pet: ‘He is my baby. He is super smart and it is uncharacteristic for him to disappear.

“He came home, had a big breakfast, and has slept most of the day.”
