In the garage all oil stains must be removed, all fans and extractors must also be cleaned.
It is also specified that screens, light switches, eaves, window sills, splashbacks, pool equipment and the entire bathroom must be cleaned.
“I was a little surprised by the list, but was really surprised by the threat of a breach notice,” the tenant said.
It provoked furious and incredulous reactions not only from other tenants, but also from the landlords who saw the post reddit.
This is not a breakable list. This is a wish list at best,” wrote one man who claimed to be a landlord.
Several tenants had their own horror stories about the property manager’s demands for inspections.
“Our most recent checklist said to ‘soak our cutlery’ and ‘wipe the sauce bottles.’ I almost fell over when I read it.’
“Then they have tenants dressed in smart casual for inspection days.” joked another.
An American now living in Australia was appalled by the demanding nature of his property manager.
“One of us said ‘dirty laundry cleaned and put away’… I was like, the f*** do you think you are, my mom?
“It was such an invasion of our space and lives… I hated them. I am from the US and they never enter your property during the rental period.
The list was so detailed that it closely resembled cleaning instructions that might be given when a home is vacated

“When I first moved here, I was stunned that this was a thing.”
One woman pointed out that property inspections are for reporting damage, not cleanliness.
“Property management agencies have so ridiculed the purpose of rent inspections, mainly because reporting to landlords about their tenants’ cleanliness is a way of demonstrating that the landlord is actually getting some kind of service in exchange for their property management. fees,” she wrote.
‘Rental inspections are to make sure you don’t damage the property; ie no holes in the walls, mold in the bathroom, chips in the paint. Things like that,” she continued.
“Cleanliness doesn’t really come into it unless you’ve made the place so filthy that there’s an insect/rodent infestation or something.”
