A young girl’s desperate screams were heard coming from a home moments before her mother was found critically injured inside.

Mother-of-two Emmerick Lasakar, 35, died Monday evening at Royal Perth Hospital after being found with multiple injuries at her home on Knutsford Avenue in Kewdale.

A neighbor told 9News that she was made aware of the ordeal when she heard screams in the neighborhood.

“It was her mother – she was screaming ‘mamma mamma mamma, no no no, choose me, kill me,'” the neighbor said.

“Then screaming again, like a really bad, horrible screaming, that was the worst.”

According to The West Australian, a young child had been the one who desperately called in triple-0.

When police and paramedics arrived, Ms. Lasakar was found with serious injuries.

They administered first aid before she was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital.

She died shortly afterwards.

WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch said the scene was confronting “not only for officers but also for the children.”

“It’s a tragically sad day for the family,” he told ABC Perth radio.

About 45 minutes after police were called to the property, a 37-year-old man known to Ms. Lasakar was arrested in the backyard of a St. James home.

Police are trying to piece together the chain of events that allegedly took place over the hour.

The man is said to have crashed his gray ute into Berwick Street before fleeing to a nearby house.

He remains in hospital under police guard, although no charges have been filed.

At some point that night, a gas station in East Victoria Park was reported to have been robbed by an armed robber.

Police say they are investigating a possible connection between the robbery and the alleged cases.

Detectives are seeking information from anyone about the man’s movements between Kewdale and St James.

Anyone with dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage is urged to contact police.
