Perth Glory 2-6 West Ham: Jarrod Bowen scores two stylish first goals as Hammers’ lives begin after Declan Rice’s comfortable win
West Ham started life after Declan Rice with a comfortable 6-2 win over Perth Glory on their pre-season tour.
It was inspired by an excellent performance from Jarrod Bowen, who scored a brace and picked up an assist.
The visitors took the lead after just 70 seconds when Daniel Chesters fired a cross shot past the Perth keeper.
Gianluca Scamacca doubled the lead from the penalty spot 20 minutes later after Pablo Fornals was brought down in the penalty area after a stylish tap from Scamacca.
Although the Hammers dominated for most of the first half, there were a few brilliant flashes from Perth on the right wing, mainly through Adam Taggart.

He crossed a dangerous ball in the penalty area late in the first half, which Luizao was unfortunately able to turn into his own net and make it 2-1.
Looking sharp after coming off the bench at half-time, Bowen restored the Hammers’ two-goal lead with a stylish first time into the roof of the net from a fine ball from Emerson Palmieri.
They then switched roles, with Bowen firing an excellent cross into the box which Emerson headed cleanly past the keeper.
It was a bit of a shock when Perth brought in the ball 4-2 minutes later, but the visitors regained control when Divin Mubama headed in a cross from the impressive Chesters.
Bowen then completed his brace to take a convincing win.
Fornals provided moments of quality throughout the game and should have made five when he fired a shot against the post in the closing moments.
The Hammers remain in Perth for their next match, which sees them take on London rivals Tottenham in another pre-season friendly.
