An Australian fly-in fly-out worker has revealed how she fell in love with an American imprisoned on the other side of the world.

Perth woman Savannah Phyffer, 29, is preparing to buy a plane ticket so she can visit Alex, 31, who is incarcerated in Nevada, USA.

It will be the first time the pair have ever met in person after first meeting through a penpal program in April 2022.

“There’s something magical between us, and I just know this is who I was meant to be with,” she shared news.com.au.

“He makes me feel incredibly special and loved.”

Mrs. Phyffer had begun writing to another inmate through a pen pal named ‘Write A Prisoner’.

The service connects residents of different countries with prisoners.

Ms Phyffer said the prisoner stopped responding to her when she received a letter from Alex ‘out of the blue’.

Alex was thrown behind bars in 2020 and will be released in 2026.

Mrs. Phyffer learned that the prisoner she had written to in the beginning had shared her details with Alex, who took it upon herself to write her a letter.

“So I guess you could say he made the first move,” she said.

The pair began writing to each other regularly before taking their relationship to the next level and chatting on the phone.

Five months later, in September, they made their relationship official.

Ms Phyffer said it doesn’t bother her that the couple haven’t met in person yet because their personalities “fit together so well” and they get along like a “house on fire”.

The 29-year-old said she had been waiting for “visitation approval” since November and was finally given the green light in March.

Ms. Phyffer has chronicled the couple’s journey on TikTok.

In a video, she talks about when the Nevada Department of Corrections approved her application to visit Alex in prison.

“Literally when he told me, I’m really going to cry now, I couldn’t help but cry,” she said.

“And it’s like a surreal feeling because I can finally go.”

Ms Phyffer has kept secret details of her lover’s incarceration, but assured her followers that Alex has not been convicted of “murder or crimes against women or children.”

She’s already made plans to fly over and said she couldn’t wait to “hold and kiss him.”

Ms Phyffer said she plans to live in the United States once her boyfriend is released from prison.
