Perth explosion: Huge fireball erupts as blaze breaks out at chemical warehouse

A huge fireball filled the skies over Perth late last night after an explosion at a chemical warehouse.

Residents in Bibra Lake, a suburb of the city, heard a loud noise around 9pm – with some saying they felt their houses shake.

A HAZMAT warning has been issued, with people in Bibra Lake and the surrounding suburbs of South Lake, North Lake and Coolbellup urged to stay indoors and keep their doors and windows closed.

People were also told to turn off the air conditioning.

Authorities said the fire was causing “a potentially hazardous smoke billowing in an east-northeast direction.”
