A baby and a beloved labradoodle were viciously attacked by two stray dogs on a suburban street — with the owner saying she couldn’t care for the animals.
Nicole Filar was walking down a quiet street in Perth Monday morning with her eight-month-old son Leo when a bullmastiff and a Staffordshire terrier appeared.
The two dogs tried to jump up and bite her newborn, before turning their attention to her frightened companion Kiki.
Bystanders rush in to help the young mother chase the dogs away, leaving her baby with scratches and her dog traumatized.
“Obviously it’s your child you’re trying to protect. But it was just horrible to have to be in that position with the two of you,” Ms Filar . said Nine.

The city of Stirling is now investigating CCTV footage of the attack on Beatrice Street in Doubleview – with neighbors alarmed by the dogs’ presence.
The video shows the couple jumping up and trying to get to little Leo, before someone jumps on top of Kiki and starts chewing at her neck.
The labradoodle repeatedly tries to flee the dog’s jaws, but he continues to follow her, eventually catching her in the hedges.
Two passers-by intervene and try to kick Kiki’s brown dog before they get in the way of the mean pets and the mother.
“They started circling us and then suddenly one of the dogs jumped up on my son who was stuck to me in the carrier, and then the other dog pinned my dog to the ground,” Ms. Filar said.
“Obviously it’s your child you’re trying to protect. But it was just horrible to have to be in that position with the two of you,” said Ms Filar
“And I just started screaming for help and got hysterical because I couldn’t help either of them.”
Finally, the dogs run away, leaving Leo with scratches on his face. Mrs. Filar is grateful that the situation was not worse.
The owner of the Bullmastiff and Staffordshire Terrier apologized profusely for the attack, revealing that her grandchild had entrusted them to her care and that she was unable to properly care for them.
The dogs’ owner, Gloria Fryer, said she cannot properly care for the dogs and was left with her by her grandchild
“The dogs are not well trained, they are not walked,” says owner Glorida Fryer.
“I can’t, I can’t walk.”
Owners can face fines of up to $10,000 for dog attacks in the city of Stirling — a figure that doubles to $20,000 if they’re a dangerous dog.
