The breeder of one of the Rottweilers that nearly killed a woman in a vicious attack says she knew the dog was “peaceful” and believes the owner’s actions must have caused the attack.
Nikita Piil, 31, was taken to Royal Perth Hospital shortly before 5pm on Saturday with serious injuries to her arms and legs after being attacked by her pets.
She was viciously attacked by her two Rottweilers, seven-year-old Bronx and four-year-old Harlem, at her Success home in the city’s south.
Ms Piil’s shocked neighbors tried to hit her fence with a bat and spray a hose on the large dogs in an attempt to stop the attack, but to no avail.
Police arrived at least 10 minutes after neighbors first heard Ms. Piil’s screams and officers shot the Bronx. The dog was later euthanized by a veterinarian.

Harlem was secured in Mrs. Piil’s garage and taken to a local pound. As of Tuesday, he will remain there while the investigation into the attack continues.
Doctors are fighting to save one of Ms Piil’s arms after she suffered extensive blood loss and serious bite wounds to her limbs.
Since the nightmare attack, she and the breeder who sold Bronx have received vicious criticism online.
The breeder, who wished to remain anonymous, said Bronx came from a family of show dogs and was known as a “peaceful” pup.
“It’s not likely that a Rottweiler would attack someone for no reason,” she said The West on Tuesday.
‘In this case there must have been a dog fight between the two dogs and I feel that the owner may have gotten involved to try to separate the dogs and somehow got involved.
‘It is traumatic for any owner to see two dogs fighting. Especially if you try to separate them yourself.’

The breeder also hit back at claims that Bronx was bred for violence.
‘We don’t breed dogs for fighting. We do not breed dogs for safety. We breed them mainly for show and to place them in family units,” she said.
“That dog’s bloodlines come from show lines, so they are definitely not known to (attack).”
She added online trolls accused Ms Piil of neglecting the dogs, saying both dogs were ‘very well maintained and very loved’.
Neighbor Bryn Spencer said he and another nearby resident heard Ms Piil’s screams just minutes before they tried to break up the attack.
However, the pair could not enter her backyard without endangering themselves.

‘I considered jumping the fence and going in to save her, but there were clearly two Rottweilers in there.
“I didn’t have a knife, I didn’t have anything really good to take out this dog.
‘I only had a bat. All I could do was watch this girl get mauled while I was punching the fence.”
Another neighbor pointed a hose at one of the dogs, distracting it for a moment.

Describing the Bronx breed, Ms Piil (above) as a good owner said the Rottweilers were ‘very well maintained and very loved’.
“The dog stopped for a moment and looked at me to decide what to do next,” Mr Spencer said.
“I kept yelling at it and hitting the fence, and then the thing decided, ‘Stuff you,’ and it got the girl and dragged her behind the back corner.”
Officers only shot Bronx after first attempting to taser both dogs and distract them from Ms. Piil.
Mrs Piil was a renowned dog lover and had a sign on her door that read: ‘Beware of the Rottweiler’.
Her Facebook page is also largely dedicated to her beloved rottweilers.
In a photo of the two dogs posing in front of a dug-out artificial grass, Ms Piil wrote: “My babies” next to a black heart.
In a birthday post from Bronx, Ms. Piil wrote, “I couldn’t ask for a more incredible, sassy, loyal, intelligent, and protective buddy.
“You are my whole world.”

WA Prime Minister Roger Cook said on Sunday that dog attacks are “always traumatic for everyone involved” and thanked emergency services.
“We will continue to ensure that we monitor the situation,” he said.
‘What we need to do is continue to educate dog owners and people in the community about the dangers – potential dangers – of these types of breeds, but we’ll just keep an eye on the situation.
‘But I would like to thank everyone who responded to this difficult situation and send my condolences to everyone affected by the event.’
