How biker thug used his autistic son as ‘bait’ to lure ex-girlfriend to a gas station before ‘knocking her teeth out’ and holding her prisoner – while learning his fate in court

- Woman said she lost two front teeth during assault
A motorcyclist who used his autistic son as bait to lure his ex-girlfriend to a patrol post before violently beating her has been sentenced to prison.
Michael James Aris denies hitting, choking or beating the woman on the head with a hard object when she arrived at a petrol station in Perth in September 2020.
The jury found the ex-Mongolian member guilty after a four-day trial of beating and then holding the woman in his car as she desperately tried to escape.
His victim told the WA District Court that she had feared for her life when Aris shoved a hard object into her abdomen and said, “I have a gun and it is loaded.”
She had arrived at the petrol station on Thomas Road in Bertram, south Perth, to pick up Aris’ nine-year-old son from Kyle Smith, the motorcyclist’s friend.

The jury was told that despite her and Aris having ended their hot and cold relationship eight months earlier, she was still caring for his child.
The woman said she was caught off guard when Aris jumped out of the shadows and started punching her, knocking out her two front teeth.
She told the court that he had tried to kiss her before forcing her into his car.
She told Aris to pee and pretended to crouch next to the car as her ex-partner warned, “I’ll shoot you if you run, I’ll shoot you.”
The woman threw her car keys into a nearby bush before running for her life to the gas station where she wanted to get help.
She told the court she heard “a loud bang” that she thought was a gun.
The woman had knocked out her two front teeth in the attack and was left with several bruises and abrasions.
In her victim impact statement, she told the court she had “lost her independence” after the brutal attack and was living in constant fear.
The woman testified that she had arrived at the petrol station on Thomas Road in Bertram, south Perth, (pictured) to pick up Aris’ nine-year-old son seconds before she was attacked by Aris.

She continues to experience problems with her teeth and panic attacks.
Judge Michael Bowden said he accepted there was some amount of pre-attack meditation as he lured the woman to the gas station before attacking her.
He described the attack as a “sustained and relentless attack.”
“She was vulnerable in the sense that you are clearly more powerful, much stronger than she is. It was unprovoked and it happened in a public place,” he said.
Judge Bowden sentenced Aris to four years behind bars, retroactive to when he was arraigned on September 12, 2020.
